Fun, quick project

I am not doing this right now, but I have always loved the idea of vinyl wall stickers! I like how they make such a difference in the room, yet they aren’t too dominant, and they’re less "permanent" than paint. I might do something in the next few months with wall stickers in our pending baby’s room… I don’t know for sure yet, though. Mind you, I’m not talking about those bright, cartoony ones that you can find at the Dollar Store or Wal Mart. I’m referring to abstract shapes like the small animal silhouettes that I saw once in a Pottery Barn catalog, or like the flowery ones featured in the link below. Just an interesting idea!

Way to go NC!

This is not a bad idea at all! I believe that many would be fond of the situation, perhaps Pace’s boss? 😉 Check out the article below.

Texting While Driving is BAD!

Lecture time! No more texting while driving! I don’t know how people can do this and feel like everyone around them is safe. I’m sure accidents happen all the time as a result, seeing as how you can hardly watch the road while texting. Anyway, let’s all try to be safer and not do this anymore! Read the article below; multiple local people were seriously injured as a result of someone texting while driving.

Some work

Well after months of waiting to see it go live, the Trainer Zone (a special area for trainers to get resources from my work) is live and had it’s first visitors. Unfortunately it’s a secure area so I can’t send you there, but I did take a picture of the main page. I’m excited b/c a survey was taken on this new layout and 12 out of 12 answered yes to the following questions: “Overall, is the site organized so you can easily find the information you are searching for?” and “Are you satisfied with the overall usability of the new website?”. To toot my own horn, that was 100% of the users answered that Pace did his job well. Thank you.

Trainer Zone

Some additional comments I’d like to highlight from the survey:

  • “This is a major improvment!!! It is much easier to navigate, the categories make sense.”
  • “Clean & crisp. Very logical.”
  • “I like it; navigation is easy &ampl intuitive. The colors are good as well.”
  • “I like the layout by lesson and the ability to easily find competencies. Organized and made sense.”
  • “I really liked this!”

And of course I took all of those out of context… 🙂 j/k. Well thanks for letting me give myself some gratitude and praise since my bosses are too busy to say anything, but I’ll just forward this post to them for my next quarterly review.

Press Release

Subject: FamilyLink.com Success Story and McGowan Proposes to Ransom Press Release
To: everyone

Success Story: “Connecting Families” through FamilyLink.com, Inc.

I have been searching for my eternal companion now for a while. Traveling across several countries, including Canada (although my sister did break her arm in Calgary, Alberta, and claims I rolled her over several times to look at her broken arm), I often wondered if I would find my eternal companion in one of these places. I had a Canadian companion on my mission in Romania who insisted that we sing God Save the Queen and Oh Canada almost daily. Little did I know that the Lord was preparing me for another Canuck…one from Alberta, although this one wouldn’t insist on singing. So, the search continued on and on. I went out with a lot of great guys, and even had several proposals, but they just didn’t seem right. I was enjoying life, but also getting a little frustrated with all the brick walls. Last year I met a guy named Jason McGowan. Yes, you may know him at work as the Facebook guy. At the time I met him, he was in a relationship, so I just tried to be nice to him and to be his friend. He broke up with that girl a while later. I felt sorry for him and decided to get to know him better and simply be friends with him. Sometime in February we started dating. We have dated ever since (although there was some competition with another guy, but Jason thrives on competition anyway) until last Thursday, July 17th, when Jason proposed! The brick wall came crashing down, and I am so grateful for FamilyLink.com/WorldVitalRecords.com, a great company that uses innovative tools to connect families. We are so excited to start our family on August 23rd….yes, of this year! Jason and I will be married in the Salt Lake temple and will have a reception that evening in Provo. You are all invited to attend. (Formal invitations will be sent later.)

McGowan Proposes to Ransom
We’re Related stats wane as McGowan’s attention is diverted for two days

PROVO, UT, July 21, 2008 — Yes, after knowing Jason McGowan for over a year, and dating for five months, he got down on one knee in a little place up in the mountains by the river where Ransom had told him that she thought was a perfect place, and asked the question.

“I really had no idea that he was going to propose, although I did book the Logan and Salt Lake temples that morning without consulting Jason on the matter,” said Whitney Ransom, fiancé to Jason McGowan.

McGowan was pretty smooth and sealed the deal with lots of roses, candles, sparkling cider, music, food, memories, scriptures with Whitney McGowan engraved on them, and don’t forget that ring!

“Yep. I knew it was coming. I could feel it in the air,” said Yvette Arts, friend of Ransom and co-worker of McGowan. “Jason worked through that morning to get the ring just the way he wanted it to be, and even bribed the jeweler with an extra $100 cash as an incentive to get the ring done on time. My job was to keep Whitney in the dark about the whole deal and make sure she got everything done in the morning, so she could spend the afternoon with Jason. I’m so happy for them!”

The couple will have an open house in Preston on August 23rd. Those who attend this open house will notice the maple leaves outlining the entrance. McGowan and Ransom will be married in the Salt Lake temple on August 23rd and will have a reception that evening in Provo, UT. The couple will reside in Orem, UT.

“So, I get pretty excited when we get more than 150,000 daily active users on Facebook, but that doesn’t even compare to my excitement of marrying Whitney (Sorry, Paul.),” said Jason McGowan, Ransom’s future husband. “I’m also really grateful that Whitney set up a shared Google calendar this morning. Just wait until she sees our Web site. I may even put tracking codes and do some SEO on it.”

About Whitney Ransom, Inc.
Whitney Ransom enjoys being with Jason, regardless of whether she is watching a movie, jumping on a trampoline, or riding in a Mercedes. She is quite competitive, but has yet to play Who Has The Biggest Brain with Jason because she doesn’t like to hurt the feelings of others. In her spare time she enjoys watching August Rush, throwing a Frisbee, or beating Jason in a game of Monopoly. She’s really fond of her work which involves innovative tools to connect families.

Update on the Prego

This week I am 17 weeks pregnant. There’s not much to comment on right now, which is great because the first trimester was NOT GOOD! I do have a lot of heartburn and headaches, and I still don’t feel 100% energetic all the time, but overall I am just SO happy not to be nauseous anymore like I was (all day, every day)! Aaah relief.

I don’t know how much I weigh at this point because we don’t have a scale at our house. But with this pregnancy my belly popped out right away, which made me fear for how big it was going to get, but then it hasn’t seemed much bigger since that initial growth. People really like to ask me if my baby is unusually small at this point (I’m used to that from when I was pregnant with Chase) or they say that their belly is bigger than mine despite being not pregnant (uh, awkward!). I have a routine appointment this week, and I will find out to appease all who inquire, if my belly is too small to have a normal baby (although I am not even remotely concerned because once again this was the exact scenario when I was pregnant with Chase). Whew, glad to have that off my chest. 🙂

Now I am just trying to be patient in this waiting period before finding out if it’s a boy or girl (next appt.)! I will be happy with either one, but a girl would probably be more exciting because I haven’t had one of those yet! 🙂

Also I am trying to force myself to drink water, and eat somewhat nutritious foods. When I’m pregnant I don’t have as much of a sweet tooth as when I’m not pregnant, HOWEVER, I’m battling my urges to eat entire bags of Cheetos Puffs! Yes, you read correctly. I don’t really have cravings during pregnancy, but hypothetically if I were to purchase a big bag of Cheetos Puffs, they would be gone in 2 days or less. I have always loved those things, but these days they call to me and I must swiftly turn away as I pass them on the chips aisle at Walmart to avoid succumbing to the great temptation. It all sounds so dramatic, but I know from one experience during this pregnancy that I can and will consume the whole entire bag in just 1-2 sittings. Weird-o! OK I need to stop talking about it because Cheetos Puffs sound so tantalizing right now…

No nuts for you! ok some but not every meal

LONDON (Reuters) – Pregnant women who eat nuts or nut products like peanut butter daily raise the risk their children will develop asthma by 50 percent, Dutch researchers said on Tuesday.

The study also showed that moderate amounts did not seem to have an effect, meaning it is too soon to say whether pregnant women should give up nuts because they contain many important nutrients and healthy fats a developing fetus needs, they said.

“We were the first to find these strong effects on asthma symptoms,” said Saskia Willers, an epidemiologist at Utrecht University, who led the study linking nuts with asthma.

“But until we are certain we don’t want to restrict them from the diet. So it is important that other studies replicate the findings,” she said.

Monday oops! Don’t lose your vision too

-Be careful next time you’re at an event and someone fires up the laser show! Lose of vision from laser reflections!-
Attendees at the July 5 Aquamarine Open Air Festival in Kirzhach, 80 km (50 miles) northeast of Moscow, began seeking medical help days after the show, complaining of eye and vision problems, health officials told Reuters.

“They all have retinal burns, scarring is visible on them. Loss of vision in individual cases is as high as 80 percent, and regaining it is already impossible,” Kommersant quoted a treating ophthalmologist as saying.

Attendees said heavy rains forced organizers to erect massive tents for the all-night dance party, and lasers that normally illuminate upwards into the sky were instead partially refracted into the ravers’ eyes.
