What is going on?

I haven’t been blogging because I feel like there is too much to blog about! Overwhelming. So I decided that I will just post some recent photos with captions and that will be good enough!

Well Rachel is casually dating this guy (note the arms). Chase is fond of him as well:

Chase was especially cute in this photo so I had to put it up!

And this one too (Daddy had made us a nice outdoor breakfast):

Okay, here’s one that’s NOT about Chase: Jessica is now here going to school at BYU! Dad and Mom brought her out (sorry I didn’t take pictures…). Also, her BF Matt was able to come for a short surprise visit! We’re glad to have Jess here, and thanks SO MUCH Dad and Mom for spoiling us! Mom got to stay for the week and helped a ton with Chase so I could rest. We love you, Parents!

A couple weeks ago we enjoyed a VERY tasty BBQ dinner at Brad and Tiffany’s (thanks, guys!). Chase and Kyle enjoyed the sand and water table, and Chase enjoyed getting the sand and water all over Kyle… luckily Kyle liked it.

Pace is being the best husband EVER! Some people get bugged when others brag about their spouses, but Pace has just been exceptional and I feel very blessed. He is so handy and smart, he takes care of me and others, and he has just been so understanding (as I have not been feeling great at all the last couple months). He does whatever needs to be done and constantly asks what he can help out with. I love him. Thank you, Pace!

Chase enjoys exploring art at the local museum.

He also enjoys doing artwork with food at home! (I am getting better at loosening up and letting him make big messes).

Also, we got to see a big hot air balloon land closeby a couple weeks ago, and they gave kids little rides, but Chase was too scared of the noise. He also got to go to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time for his friend Rhett’s birthday (thanks again, Ryan and Aubrey)! And as for me, I am at least starting to feel a little better than I have been. We’re having fun!

The begining of the end

of the internet. Yes today some idiots somewhere in the world somehow got to decide that the internet TDLs should not be strictly regulated but more open. So pretty much for 100,000 you can get anything you want… so Apple.com could make their new address apple.mac or apple.windows. Can you say mass confusion! What a lame idea, unless someone gives me a bunch of money so I can buy .go or .buy then I’ll make millions selling domain names… anyway here’s the summary full article on the link.

Top-level domain names, or TLDs, refer to Internet name suffixes, such as the ubiquitous .com, .net and .org, among others. Currently, there are more than 200 TLDs, which also include the two-character country codes used by websites, such as Britain’s .uk.

“This is a historic resolution,” said Peter Dengate Thrush, chairman of Icann’s board. “It’s going to make a big difference to how the Internet looks and works.”

Icann officials said some technical issues for the new system must still be worked out, but it could be reviewing the first applications for new TLDs as early as next spring. The application fee is expected to cost more than $100,000.

Under the new system, individuals, companies or groups could apply to have any string of letters established as a domain name. It could be a vanity name, for example — .smith — or a category name like .sports or .perfume. A company could also change its domain to reflect its brand, so Apple.com could become Apple.mac, for instance.

Straightforward applications will be approved quickly, officials said. A review process would be undertaken for controversial strings, such as those that infringe on existing trademarks, or appear to be too similar to existing TLDs, or raise moral objections.
Icann adopted the new rules after a meeting in Paris.

So since Joy is holding off posting her other psots, I’ll get techie and give a shout out to my favorite browser. Mozilla’s Firefox has released it latest version: 3.0. This new version features a couple of big changes. The rendering engine has been migrated to Gecko and memory usage has been optimized. As a bonus for all you Firefox lovers, or soon to be lovers, I have some custom icons to make you drool.

Icons

On a mac to use a .png file as icon do this:

  1. Open the .png file in Preview
  2. Press command-A to select the entire image
  3. Press command-C to copy the selection
  4. Control-Click on the file/folder you would like to change- click get info
  5. Click the icon (so there is a frame around it)
  6. Press command-V to paste the image into that

Done. Enjoy!

On a pc, download the .ico files and then right click on the app and say custmize, then navigate to the .ico file. Done. Enjoy!

Survivor!

On Thursday night, Pace played softball and then filled in on a team for our city’s Survivor event! It was great, although he couldn’t continue due to prior obligations. The best part of the night was that they had REAL people from Survivor China, and since Pace and I are Survivor fans, we were pretty excited (okay maybe just I was pretty excited)! There were only about 8 teams there, so we got to chat it up with Courtney, Frosti, and the winner of Survivor China, Todd Herzog! Well really we only hung out with Courtney, because she thought Chase was cute. I told her I felt like we were already friends (just because I’d already seen her so much on the show). Unfortunately, I left the camera at home, hence the lack of photos, but Courtney gave Chase a sticker that he loved (so I took a pic when we got home). Look how proud he is of his sticker! Hahah!

Cute Moment

Scenario– I’m in the bathroom fixing my hair before going somewhere. Chase is sitting on the toilet watching me.

Chase: “Know what, Mommy?”

Joy: “What, Chase?”

Chase: “Your hair looks really nice.”

I almost died it was so cute! I am very proud of our big talker, and relieved that he can express himself so thoroughly these days! Go Chase! (After this little scenario, he proceeded to ask me if he could brush my hair, and he did a good job– each side of my hair getting equal attention)! 🙂

CALIfragilistic

Hello People, how are you? We are back from California, and although I have not blogged about it until now, it was so wonderful to have the whole family together, if only for a day. My parents are the best for taking care of Chase (and me) for the week– so much action going on around that place! We got to go fishing, to the beach, Traintown, Jessica’s graduation, and much much more. My favorite things were eating at In N Out Burger twice, being with the family, and resting. Chase’s favorite things were riding the tractor with Grandpa, riding the 4-wheeler with Daddy, riding in the big truck with Gino…. notice a trend here? He was also a fan of Pepper the donkey, Heidi the dog, and the owl family that lives down in the barn. Most of all, he loved being with so many fun people (Mommy gets rather boring after a while).

Check out our fun photos in our McPhotos and 3 very cute videos in our McVideos section (in addition to the previous posted video submitted by Gino)! Congrats to Jessica who graduated from high school and who will be here in Utah in just a few days! Woohoo (but sad for BF Matt– we love you Matt)!

Chase Montage

Pop some popcorn, grab some ice cream or candy. This one is good. Big thanks to Gino for mixing his video files from our CA trip. Gino always seemed to have his camera out at the right time, except when Chase lifted me in the tractor.

Ahh the blessed internet

So moving along with the reporting of how to watch your favorite shows online, I have to put this newcomer up TidalTV currently in beta. It is not affiliate with any station so they offer a lot of different things, is easier to navigate than hulu.com and has streaming (like normal tv) AND on demand options but most important has a handy scheduler. Check it out, we’re getting close to forgetting that comcast even offers cable.. just deliver the highspeed internet please.

WOW!

The Utah Department of Agriculture has started advising local grocery chains and food distributors to start pulling certain kinds of tomatoes because of a nationwide Salmonella outbreak.

The Food and Drug Administration(FDA) says to be safe, stay away from eating certain raw tomatoes including red Roma, red plum or red round tomatoes.

The Utah Department of Agriculture is now putting out the warning as well. Several restaurant chains are pulling the produce. McDonald’s, Chipotle’s Mexican Grill and Taco Bell have stopped serving sliced tomatoes.

We’ve been in contact with a number of non-chain local restaurants. Some hadn’t heard anything about Salmonella tomato problem. Others where still deciding what to do.

Kroger officials made the voluntary decision over the weekend to pull certain tomatoes from the shelves in Utah. They removed the Roma tomatoes and the large round tomatoes. They stress that those that are left on the shelves in Utah have NOT been implicated in the outbreak.

According to the Utah Department of Health, the following types of tomatoes listed below are NOT likely to be the source of this outbreak.

  • cherry tomatoes
  • grape tomatoes
  • tomatoes sold with the vine still attached
  • tomatoes grown at home
