Silly Chase-isms

       DSC03238         DSC03240

December:

   — Chase: “I want to marry you, Mommy.”   Me: “But you can’t because Daddy already married me.”   Chase: “Well I am going to marry somebody special.”

   — “I am SO busy.”

   — “What’s THAT cute shirt, Mommy?” (I had changed into a teal shirt at bed time)

   — Me: “You’re a good boy.”   Chase: “You’re a good girl.”

   — Chase: “I’m big and flat.”   Me: “Why are you flat?”   Chase: Because I eat too much candy.”

   — (after nearly biffing it) “That was AWESOME!”

January:

   — “I’m gonna give you a saudge.” (and he started massaging my shoulders)

   — (somberly) “Sorry mom. I keep arguing.”

   — “It’s so beeeeeeautiful! Lightning McQueen likes Sally!”

   — “I have a tummyache. I think Daddy said it’s from the gum I swallowed yesterday.” (he really had stolen gum from my purse the day before and swallowed it before we could get it out of his mouth, and Pace told him he’d get a tummyache.)

   — (I was cleaning the kitchen sink and Chase walked in) “What the HECK is going on over there?!?”

Good Morning!

                                        DSC03245

I love it that she chills in her crib for a few minutes after waking in the morning, just gurgling & erratically flailing her chubby arms and legs. When she hears me enter the room, she pauses for a moment… Then as soon as we get a glimpse of each other, she starts back up again, smiling all the way! Sweet, yummy baby.

P.S. That’s Chase’s big boy hand in the photo, not hers!  🙂

IE 8 is out today!

Hey all you IE lovers, time to wake up and hit that update button again. AND I’m not kidding on this one. You’re FINALLY getting proper CSS support! And a bunch of other cool stuff. I’ve been using the beta 2 at work now for a bit on a test box. Most everything looks better, and feels better, except our company website (Liferay doesn’t work, ooch). I liked the social tie in (optional) where you can click a button and blog about the page you are on, I mainly just liked the fact that McBlog looked correct. So if you are true blue to IE go get IE8 right now!

Uncle Ryan & Aunt Tina came to town!

It was fun to have my big bro Ryan and his wife Tina here for a quick visit this weekend! Among other things, we went to Sundance on Saturday to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Here are some pics. I realized that I don’t have any of Ryan and Tina actually looking at the camera, but that’s because I took those photos of them with Rachel’s camera, so check out her blog too! We had a good time and the kids were well-behaved. Thanks for visiting, you guys!

Family Prayer

“Family prayer is a powerful and sustaining influence. During the dark days of World War II, a 500-pound bomb fell outside the little home of Brother Patey, a young father in Liverpool, England, but the bomb did not go off. His wife had died, so he was rearing his five children alone. He gathered them together at this very anxious time for family prayer. They ‘all prayed . . . earnestly and when they had finished praying, the children said: “Daddy, we will be all right. We will be all right in our home tonight.”“ ‘And so they went to bed, imagine, with that terrific bomb lying just outside the door half submerged in the ground. If it had gone off it would have destroyed probably forty or fifty houses and killed two or three hundred people. . . . “ ‘The next morning the . . . whole neighborhood was removed for forty-eight hours and the bomb was finally taken away. . . . “ ‘On the way back Brother Patey asked the foreman of the A. R. P. Squad: “Well, what did you find?”“ ‘ “Mr. Patey, we got at the bomb outside of your door and found it ready to explode at any moment. There was nothing wrong with it. We are puzzled why it did not go off” ’ (Andre K. Anastasiou, in Conference Report, Oct. 1946, 26). Miraculous things happen when families pray together.”

MY BABIES

DSC00406 DSC03204

I’d say they look related, wouldn’t you? (I already know that my mom and Amber will agree! They’ve been pointing it out all along!)

The first photo is Chase when he was 4 months old, and the second is Charlotte at 2 1/2 months. I’ve seen mostly differences between Chase and Charlotte as newborns, but these photos show how alike (in appearance) they seem! However, Charlotte’s eyes are lighter, and her hair is definitely darker than Chase’s was (she has a little mullet in the back where her hair is clearly brown)! I think she might be bigger than he was, too…

Okay. Looking at these photos, I just had yet another moment when the thought hit me, “What? I have two children? Where has the time gone? Am I not in high school anymore? guess not.”

I had one of those moments earlier when I was taking Chase to a Sports class at The Little Gym (which was awesome, by the way). I thought, “Do I really have a child who’s old enough for me to be carting around to such activities? guess so.”

I am realizing, now that Chase is turning 3, that the time really does fly by. I mean, it’s great that Chase is at this age when he can do so much all by himself– there are benefits to having a child get older. But right now I am also really cherishing Charlotte in all her baby glory. This time around I’m not anxiously awaiting the next milestone, even though milestones are fun. But I just love babyhood! You may stay a baby as long as you’d like, Little One!

What’s Pace doing?

As you might have noticed Joy has been on a blogging streak, so I thought I would throw one in here. Yes I am mainly fishing for praise. We’ve just launched a couple of things at work.

  1. REACH 09 website
  2. Funny Video Campaign

Catching some attention around the office, Joseph Grenny, one of the Authors/owners emailed about the REACH site: “This website is really, really good. It has such an affirmative, specific and positive message to it and I think makes a compelling case for registration. Very well done! This is one of the best promotional things I think we’ve ever done.”

Also the Reach site has been nominated for a Hermes Award (thanks for the idea Ryan).. pictured here. Submitted for Overall Website Design, so that will be cool if I win that. Then I’ll make everyone say award winning designer after my name.

Happy Baby (& Happy Mommy)

DSC03207 DSC03204DSC03197 DSC03200

I did not feel tired today. Wanna know why? Of course you do. It’s because I slept for 7 hours straight last night, which I haven’t done in who knows how long. Yes, Charlotte slept through the night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10:30 pm ‘til 7:30 am!!!

Charlotte is 2 1/2 months old, which is when the Babywise book said a baby would start sleeping through the night when following the sleep, eat, play, sleep pattern. I’ve been aiming to do that routine with her, but it doesn’t usually work out perfectly… So I don’t know if Charlotte is just sleeping well on her own, or if the Babywise idea is working, but whatever it is, it worked out quite nicely last night! Let’s see if it continues. Yes please! Life is sure easier with a good night’s rest.
