Goodbye, Family

Tonight we went out to Applebee’s with some of the family, where we said goodbye to Cotton, Nada, baby Luke, and Darin’s parents. They are leaving us! Darin and Nada are going to live in Tennessee for Darin’s PT school, and Cotton is going back to North Carolina. We had to make the goodbyes quick because I felt myself starting to cry and we didn’t need to have any of that… We will really miss you guys!

Father and Son Bonding Time

Chase has wanted to go camping for a long time, ever since Curious George had such a fun camping adventure (on t.v. and in his Curious George Treasury book). So on Friday night, Pace (being the nice daddy that he is) set up the tent in the backyard, bought a couple sleeping bags, blew up the air mattress, etc. "The guys" had a nice evening of sitting around the fire, reading stories, and singing songs.

Then around 9 pm, they attempted to go to sleep. That was when Mommy got home from Enrichment night, and wanted to see how the camping experience was going. But when she went out to see the guys, Chase decided that he wanted to sleep inside where Mommy would be. Basically he ditched Daddy and slept in his own bed that night. Daddy said that the birds and the train were noisy and that he didn’t sleep that well…. Poor Daddy! Luckily they had a little more fun the next morning, when they went up the canyon and launched rockets with other guys in the ward! Thanks for being a good Daddy, Pace!

Our Recent Creations

Last week, Chase and I made those cupcakes that look like ice cream cones for a pre-camp activity I had at church. The funny thing is, I had these at a primary activity once, when I was like 8 or something, and I remember I thought they were the best things ever. So that’s why I decided to make them for the girls! It was the type of thing that took longer than I thought it would to get them completely done, but luckily the Young Women at mutual appreciated them! Oh, and Chase did, too!

Chase made a little "sculpture" or something here; I had him set the table for dinner, and he just got a little sidetracked with the utensils. Pretty funny, I must say!

Pace and I have been working on the yard, and it’s almost done! We just need to get more mulch from the yard waste place, but luckily it’s only 5 bucks a load so it’s not breaking the bank (like the play area kind of did). And I also have decided that I LOVE irises, because they are low maintenance, yet they have been blooming in such splendor lately! We have a little garden, too; we’re doing tomatoes and bell peppers this year. Chase loves playing outside!

And this one is a stretch, but my sis Rachel has "created" a rather good "friendship" with a guy named Adam. We like him pretty well! I took a picture of the two of them yesterday, despite their pitiful protests.

What a cute boy!

Sons are so cool, you can picture them being you when you’re old, they follow you around and want to act like you, and the try to wear your clothes. I came down one morning to find Joy and Chase eating, Joy in her pink robe and Chase in my blue robe. It was very cute.

I just love my family they rock. We had some of my co-workers over yesterday for a BBQ, thanks Ryan for the awesome pulled pork, and Chase was so funny walking around "helping" the "baby" who was actually only a few months younger than Chase. I can’t wait to see how he treats his younger brother when he gets here. 🙂 We also dumped $5 worth of mulch in our backyard, it looks really nice, and prob will for about a month. smells like poop though.. we’re still trying to figure out what to do with the one section of our yard. concrete, or just leave it or lotsa mulch… we’ll see. And finally some more pics to wrap up this update.

Happy Mothers Day

God bless my mother because if I poop half as bad as I did when I was a baby, she’s seen a lot of crap.

God bless my mother because “boys are harder to raise than girls”, and she had 4 of em.

God bless my mother because with as many fights as she refereed she should be a retired referee.

God bless my mother because she’s the best! We love you mom, thanks for all you’ve done and will do.

You know you’re an American Idol fan when….

…upon finishing dinner, your son runs downstairs exclaiming, “AMERICAN IDOLLLLLL!” even though you never even mentioned to him that it was American Idol night! 🙂

P.S. Can Jason please finally go home? I have never been able to handle watching him perform. I’ll leave it at that!

BPA-free Options

This is a sort of follow-up post on the one Pace previously posted, on the issue of BPA (bisphenol-a) in plastic drinking bottles. To catch anyone up who hasn’t heard, most plastic bottles (baby and adult) contain BPA that have been linked to serious physical harm including various forms of cancer. I am mainly concerned about Chase in this case, because he drinks out of these things quite regularly, and I would prefer that he not be therefore doomed to certain maladies. I mean, he can drink out of a cup perfectly well, but I like sippy cups for on-the-go and especially in the car. Besides, I even feel bad drinking out of disposable bottles and then just throwing them in the recycle bin, so I should probably convert to Nalgene or the like anyway. So although Pace and I are trying to stop spending money on things we want, I think this is something that is somewhat life or death… Therefore, we’ll most likely be getting one of the following types of bottles, making sure beforehand that it’s BPA-free!

The sites below have kid bottles that you can get, and in order from cheapest to most expensive is Nalgene, Camelbak, then Klean Kanteen. So go get your kiddos (and yourself) some new sippies!

P.S. I must give credit to my friend Melissa for featuring the Klean Kanteen on her blog first!
