Benadryl and Pee

This wild experience happened a few weeks ago, and it’s one that I want to remember and laugh about…

It was late afternoon. I had just gotten Charlotte out of the bath, wrapped her in a towel, and had taken her to her bedroom. I rummaged around in her closet to find something to help her endure the dreaded diaper/clothing time that she generally loathes. I selected a big plastic bottle of Benadryl (that we had recently bought) and handed it to Charlotte. She immediately shook it, and it fell and landed on the floor, breaking somehow (it’s very sturdy plastic so I don’t know how that happened)! Benadryl seeped out of the bottle all over her closet floor, into the cracks and everything!

Despite my surprise, I put Charlotte down, snatched the rapidly draining bottle up in my hands and rushed it to the bathroom. I stuck it in a cup so I could later salvage the last few ounces that remained. I soon found that Benadryl had dripped and leaked everywhere. I took a deep breath and even kinda laughed at what was going on!

I scurried back to the bedroom to wipe up some of the mess so the fresh, clean Charlotte wouldn’t play in the puddle and track it all over the house! As I was madly mopping up the mess, Chase woke up from a little snooze (which he doesn’t do anymore–sad!) and when he asked me what was going on, I impatiently told him that Charlotte had made a mess so I needed to hurry and clean it up.

Meanwhile, Charlotte was still running around naked. I then heard a thump and a scream over in my bedroom, so I ran in there to find that Charlotte had apparently peed on our laminate floor and subsequently slipped in her puddle of pee and hit her head in the doorway! So she soon had a nice goose egg on her head. Meanwhile, Chase was just quietly standing there, wondering why everyone in the house had gone crazy. I comforted Charlotte, figured that she had just peed so she wouldn’t pee again soon, so she could stay naked while I continued addressing the messes at hand. I went back to cleaning up the Benadryl and pee puddles.

Aaahhhh, finally, everything was taken care of. I went down to the kitchen to retrieve little Charlotte who had been thoroughly enjoying running around the kitchen naked. I probably did some of these things in the wrong order, but it all happened in about 2 minutes so I wasn’t thinking too clearly. I’m glad things aren’t that chaotic around here all the time!

Chase’s Birthday

Little man’s birthday is coming up, and I was so excited to buy him some video games, guns, and back hair. Instead I nabbed Cars on Xbox360 and Star Wars Clone Wars the movie. I’m sure he’ll be excited, even if Mom wasn’t. When I bought them I was so excited, I had to tell someone. When I told Joy, she said, “wow” all lowercased on purpose. Well, Joy, why don’t we tell the story of My Little Pony and Charlotte? Hmmm hmmm?

If you’re in a gift giving mode (or mood) and wonder what Chase is into, he’s into anything that he can play with outside, anything that helps him use up energy, or anything on this list. Sorry I had to keep this post to all words, Chase can see images, but he can’t read.

Enough cutesee stuff

Ok that’s it, I’m taking this McBlog back over. Time for some guy stuff!
First and most important, who will be in Utah on April 9 & 10 to go to the Man Expo with me?

Second, this cool thing came out today that turns your camera into a wireless camera. What’s that mean? Well imagine never having to find those darn cables each time you want to get pictures from your camera. Instead, take a picture then go to your computer, b/c it synced wirelessly. “WOW that’s AWESOME!” you say. “Yes it is” I say back. Isn’t it expensive!? Well normally you’d think this would recuire a new camera, or fancy stuff. Well a company has shoved all the necessary hardward into an SD card. Eye.fi. If you have a sony camera, you’re out of luck b/c they have a proprietary card design… BUT this is SWEET! You should definitely get this on your birthday list. Check the cheesy mom explanation video.

Third, there has been a huge explosion of Android announcements. If you’ve been cruising along happily with your old cell phone, you might not have noticed that the future is here and it’s called Android. All major carriers have at least two phones running this operating system.. when’s the last time that happened? (That tells you how tech shattering this is) Sprint, my carrier of choice as of this writing, will have 5 Android phones available by the end of April. AND Sprint also announced WiMax (4G) coverage is coming in SLC. So that’s cool.

OK, I think that’s enough geek to cover us for a bit. What do you think?
(What’s Iron Man there for? Well, he’s a really cool man, and he is techie)

Too Late… We’re All Taken! :)

It was so weird to me to have all 3 of us pose with rings on our fingers! Yep, my youngest sister, Jessica, just got engaged to Casey on Friday night! Funny thing is, my other little sister Rachel is engaged and will marry Nathan in May. What fun! Haha, okay maybe some don’t see as much humor in it as I do, but it’s certainly something that we’ll all look back on with a chuckle!

Rachel put all 3 of our rings on for fun. We each decided that our own rings were the prettiest.

The happy “old” couple, and the happy, newly engaged couple. Congrats to Jessica and Casey!

I Just Think She’s Precious

I love this sweet little face. Charlotte often plays a game of tilting her head back and forth (she especially loves it if you play along).

I had brought in the tricycle for her to sit on because she really wanted to be outside, but I had to get that laundry folded while Chase was at Joy School.

We’ve been playing outside a lot of the day, because it’s been 55-60 degrees lately and it’s just wonderful outside.

Charlotte enjoys briefly cuddling with Chase on the couch when he watches a show.

I love how the family interaction and bonds increase as they get older. She really enjoys running around the house with Chase and gets so excited when “Dada!” gets home from work.

She loves books and she’ll often look at one in bed right before she naps. Such a cuddlebunch with her blankie and binky!

Grandma!

We always love when family comes to town! Grandma came recently, and we had a great time. Chase’s favorite thing was the Dinosaur Museum, especially because we got to have Jaxon along. And I especially loved having In ‘n’ Out Burgers afterwards!

Charlotte loved snuggling with her Grandma, and I think Grandma loved it, too. (Chase just can’t miss a photo op!)

Thanks, Mom, for visiting and for spoiling us!

Chase Adventures

Adventures with Chase!

Chase really likes to do all sorts of flips off the couches, tables, etc. When you hear of kids bouncing off the walls, you can take it literally in this case. There are times when he doesn’t watch where he’s going, and he lands on top of Little Sister, which is no fun for her.

Our growing boy has been a challenge to keep entertained lately. Thank goodness for Joy School and having friends over a lot! I often get worn out starting around 3:30 or 4pm, finding more things for him to do that day and trying not to feel “fried.” I might have to find some good, structured summer activities for him to do (so we don’t all go crazy).

                       DSC04551

One thing that’s fun is that he really likes to help bake or do anything in the kitchen. I have to try to be really patient with him! Last time we made scone biscuit things from a kids’ cookbook. After we pulled the cookie sheet out of the oven, he leaned forward to smell the scones and burned his chin! So he has a red line on his chin that is healing.

                       DSC04588

Speaking of getting burned, last night we had a ward potluck night at the church, and as I was dishing us up some hot soup from a crock pot, my bowl tipped and spilled all down Chase’s back! He was screaming and crying, “Ow Mommy Ow ow ow!!!!” I quickly pulled off his shirt, saw that his back was really red. I just sat there hugging him, not really knowing what to do, and of course I started to cry. I didn’t want to make a scene, but too late. Fortunately, we have a very loving ward and a few people rushed up to help out. Someone even went and got him some clean clothes from their house. I had already been having a rough day with Chase, so my emotional tears would not stop… After we had iced his back and cleaned him up, everything was fine and it actually turned out to be an enjoyable evening. His back looks totally fine today!

One more thing, Chase is such a waterbug! He has started swimming lessons at the nearby indoor pool, and he’s loving it. He just had his first class, and he didn’t even look up at me on the bleachers the whole time, which was great because he was enjoying it so much. It kinda made me sad, because he seems to be getting older. It’s like every day he gets older or something!!!! At least he still calls me “Mommy” and blows kisses to me when I’m dropping him off at Joy School.

Avatar wins best picture

While Avatar didn’t win best picture at the Academy awards, it did win in some people’s hearts. Here is my ode to Avatar, created by someone else.

Weigh off round 1

The challenge has been set, and it’s time to PAY UP! Last year I wrote about the gauntlet getting thrown down and the McWeigh off was born.

Well as clearly stated, it’s time for the first of two annual weigh offs between myself and McGowan. After Jason loses this weigh off he only has a month to prep himself for the next weigh in, so McG, I hope you are ready for a Biggest Loser workout regime.

Now it wouldn’t be fair for me to trash talk my competition on my blog, for one all my readers are supporting me (or at least you better be!), and two b/c Jason is an internet mogul who would prob post smack talk in places I’ve never even heard of. I’ll end by saying, Jason, I’d like my victory dinner here please. Thank you very much
