We did not have a hard time coming up with Chase’s name before he was born. We actually knew he would be “Chase” by the time I was 6 months along. However, we have found it difficult to name this little girl who will be born NEXT MONTH (weird)!
As for me, I like feminine names that are not too common, but that are still somewhat common– meaning they’re not in any top 10 lists but still in the top 100s. We do like the name Ava, but her name will not be Ava because it’s in a lot of states’ top 5 lists, and I don’t want there to be 4 Avas in our daughter’s kindergarten class along with her.
We may come up with the perfect name soon enough, but it’s likely that we just won’t tell anyone until she’s born because then it will be DONE and FINAL. That way, hopefully people will be LESS likely to give their negative opinions about the name (there will always be someone who dislikes the name chosen)! Although we really don’t know yet what we will name her, I just like browsing the Social Security website and all the different name lists they have from the last several years.
Here’s one of the lists, if you’re interested (notice how often “Ava” shows up on there– surprising! also notice how many more traditional boy names there are still around, versus the girl names).
