Great weekend!

We wanted to tell ya’ll what a great weekend we had. A big thank you to Amanda for babysitting Chase!!! Friday I went golfing with Darin the elder’s quorum pres. And he beat me badly, but at least he paid! Then I cleaned the house while Joy watched Wife Swap.. Saturday we all went to the park and met Yancy, and Bob & Emily. Yancy, Bob, Emily and I played disc golf while Joy and Chase played on the playground. It was tons of fun especially since I won the disc golf. Yes you can watch for a new trophy coming to the trophy case! After Cotton visited for a car wash we went to a ward St Patrick days dinner where they had extra food so I got to eat a lot. Then we played games and had a great time, we played the German game, RAGE which is just like another card game we’ve played that no one remembered the name.. anyway.

What did ya’ll do this weekend? or for Steph what part of the world did you go to THIS weekend?

CTR Rings, LDS gifts and More!

Joy and I are part of a new website catering to the Christian gift market. Largely made up of LDS themed gifts, LDSstock.com is a treasure trove of Valentine’s Day, Presidents Day and any other holiday gift ideas. After surfing around for seconds, Joy wanted to buy the CTR hoop earrings, I informed her we were setting up the website to sell stuff not buy stuff… what would you buy?

We’re Back

Our cell phones are back to normal! Pace is now with Cricket, though, so no more long chats on the phone with those who have unlimited Verizon-to-Verizon minutes. But he has unlimited minutes all the time, so if you don’t have a limit, you can chat with him all day long and it won’t make no difference to no one. I think that’s a pretty good deal, and I would have done it too, except that most of the people I talk to for a long time have Verizon. So I’m on a plan with Rachie and Pace is all alone now. I’m sure you’re glad you just read all this.

Chase is Okay

Hey faithful readers, just wanted to report on Chase’s 9-month Well-Baby visit to the pediatrician today (a little past the 9-month mark, but that’s okay). First of all, I took him to a new pediatric office, and I liked it WAY more than the place we were at before. So that’s good. They have a sick child waiting room and a well-child room, so you don’t have to have other kids coughing up phlegm all over your perfectly healthy kid. It’s a very good idea in my book. And all the nurses were smiling and personable, which seems to be too much to ask at some of the other doctors offices we’ve been to.

Anyway, Chase is perfectly healthy. I think we take that for granted sometimes, that he is really healthy and has had only 2 colds in his life. So now it’s been confirmed that the sleep problems aren’t due to any medical issues. It’s good to know that we aren’t torturing him too bad when we let him cry in his crib several times a night (although Cotton the baby expert would tell you otherwise).

Chase is 29″ tall (75th percentile), 21 lbs. (55th percentile), and his head circumference is 45.6 cm (60th percentile). He has only gained a pound and a half since his 6-month visit, which was interesting to me, but I think he’s just gotten taller and not any chubbier (he has been referred to as a “chunk” and “solid”). So he’s a healthy, happy boy (well, not so happy when being put in his carseat or when having his diaper changed). The doctor commented that Chase is probably going to be a big kid, based on his early growth patterns, and that his name is appropriate because he’ll really keep mommy busy (Chase had to explore every nook and cranny and pushed the rolling chair around the room before we were out of there). We didn’t get any major answers about the sleep issues, but the doctor gave me some papers on the topic. We’ll keep trying in that area, and if nothing works, we’ll have to be referred to a sleep doctor in SLC. But we’re glad to know Chase is okay for the time being!

Family Fun and Laziness!

It’s been nice to visit the fam here in California. We’ll be going back to Utah and our normal lives on Thursday. Mostly we have been sitting around, guiltlessly eating chocolate and pies and watching more TV than I’ve watched in the last few years combined. But sometimes it’s good to be lazy, so you can then appreciate your normal lifestyle again and not wish for the lazy times anymore, at least for a month or two! It’s been good to relax because before we left some crazy things were happening, like giving various talks and lessons at church, getting a flat tire on the freeway (scariest thing that’s happened to me in a while), and the housework piling up! Well, that’s not so abnormal. But anyway, Chase got tons of presents for Christmas; I think he’s officially the spoiled center of attention. But we have to admit that he’s such a cutie that he deserves it I suppose. At least I never have to buy him toys or books or anything. He’s been so smiley and funny since we’ve been here, and he’s crawling a lot faster now so it seems like his confidence has grown in the last 2 weeks since he started that. Good times.

A very merry christmas

We had a great Christmas. Thanks to all those who let us give stuff to them. And those who gave stuff to us. We were really glad to get The Office season 2 on dvd. We love our house and washer and dryer and everything. We’ve had fun in California, we only have two more days here for Grandma and Grandpa to get their fill of Chase for a while. Hopefully you all had a great Christmas too, we heard Cotton’s favorite present was his whistle. What was yours?

We are in Cali now.

We’ve arrived in Cali now. It’s much nicer weather here than in Utah. And there are many more cookies and fat-ning things to eat here. Talk to ya later

The Big Change

As I have mentioned before, I have wanted to try getting some highlights in my hair for the first time. I have been looking at my hair and deciding that it’s been getting too dark for my liking, so I decided to go for it. “How bad could it turn out?” is what Rachel said the night before when I was expressing my reluctance. I wanted to do it, though. I am cheap so I just went to a local beauty school where the coloring is $20. It ended up taking 3 hours, and Rachel was entertaining Chase there the whole time and wondering when it would end. The girl who did my hair was so excited, saying I would love it!!! Yay! But when all was said and done, it didn’t look hardly any different! I think it just didn’t sit in my hair long enough to take very well. So I made an appointment to go back and have someone else do it (for free since they messed up the first time) and make it a little more noticeable, because i wanted my hair to look lighter! Rachel for some reason agreed to watch Chase again, so I went. It ended up taking almost 4 hours this second time, yes just for highlights, not even a haircut with it. I was so out of it at the end and I vowed never to do it at a beauty school again. They just take too long! I mean, I’ll still get my hair cut at those places, just because I’m not picky about what my haircut is like, but not color! So anyway, the result is that my hair is indeed lighter, but I don’t think I’m a huge fan of what it looks like on me. I think they did it too chunky and I can’t decide if I look like a wannabe blonde or white trash. But it’s not THAT bad…. Just in time for my birthday!

Surprise from UPS

Yesterday I was talking with my mom, TMom, about how sometime I want to get a big, heavy duty paper trimmer to replace the tiny, dinky one that I currently have. The big ones are obviously bigger so they’re easier to use with scrapbook paper, cards and anything else, and you can cut many papers at once. Then today I received a surprise in the mail as an early birthday present. Yep, you guessed it, a brand new paper cutter from the parents! I was very shocked and excited. I called Mom and she said she had just ordered it last night! Wow. Thanks, parents! And happy birthday to me! And the moral of the story is, if you ever want anything, casually mention it to TMom and it may magically arrive at your home the next day!

In case you hadn’t heard, which most of you have except me… Nada got her braces off. I haven’t heard b/c they haven’t been by to see me since she got them off. Kind of like when your teenager gets their drivers license, you don’t see them anymore… now that Nada is so popular and attractive, she does come round no more. In other news, BYU beat Utah in the best football game I’ve seen all year. Joy was called to be the beehive adviser, and I am going to be an teaching Elders quorum. Oh and Chase is driving.

Thanksgiving was fun, we had a good time relaxing and eating food, hanging out with friends and family that were in town. We kept meaning to go see Bond after Tyler’s review.. but it just never happened. Maybe next week.
