Subject: FamilyLink.com Success Story and McGowan Proposes to Ransom Press Release
To: everyone

Success Story: “Connecting Families” through FamilyLink.com, Inc.

I have been searching for my eternal companion now for a while. Traveling across several countries, including Canada (although my sister did break her arm in Calgary, Alberta, and claims I rolled her over several times to look at her broken arm), I often wondered if I would find my eternal companion in one of these places. I had a Canadian companion on my mission in Romania who insisted that we sing God Save the Queen and Oh Canada almost daily. Little did I know that the Lord was preparing me for another Canuck…one from Alberta, although this one wouldn’t insist on singing. So, the search continued on and on. I went out with a lot of great guys, and even had several proposals, but they just didn’t seem right. I was enjoying life, but also getting a little frustrated with all the brick walls. Last year I met a guy named Jason McGowan. Yes, you may know him at work as the Facebook guy. At the time I met him, he was in a relationship, so I just tried to be nice to him and to be his friend. He broke up with that girl a while later. I felt sorry for him and decided to get to know him better and simply be friends with him. Sometime in February we started dating. We have dated ever since (although there was some competition with another guy, but Jason thrives on competition anyway) until last Thursday, July 17th, when Jason proposed! The brick wall came crashing down, and I am so grateful for FamilyLink.com/WorldVitalRecords.com, a great company that uses innovative tools to connect families. We are so excited to start our family on August 23rd….yes, of this year! Jason and I will be married in the Salt Lake temple and will have a reception that evening in Provo. You are all invited to attend. (Formal invitations will be sent later.)

McGowan Proposes to Ransom
We’re Related stats wane as McGowan’s attention is diverted for two days

PROVO, UT, July 21, 2008 — Yes, after knowing Jason McGowan for over a year, and dating for five months, he got down on one knee in a little place up in the mountains by the river where Ransom had told him that she thought was a perfect place, and asked the question.

“I really had no idea that he was going to propose, although I did book the Logan and Salt Lake temples that morning without consulting Jason on the matter,” said Whitney Ransom, fiancé to Jason McGowan.

McGowan was pretty smooth and sealed the deal with lots of roses, candles, sparkling cider, music, food, memories, scriptures with Whitney McGowan engraved on them, and don’t forget that ring!

“Yep. I knew it was coming. I could feel it in the air,” said Yvette Arts, friend of Ransom and co-worker of McGowan. “Jason worked through that morning to get the ring just the way he wanted it to be, and even bribed the jeweler with an extra $100 cash as an incentive to get the ring done on time. My job was to keep Whitney in the dark about the whole deal and make sure she got everything done in the morning, so she could spend the afternoon with Jason. I’m so happy for them!”

The couple will have an open house in Preston on August 23rd. Those who attend this open house will notice the maple leaves outlining the entrance. McGowan and Ransom will be married in the Salt Lake temple on August 23rd and will have a reception that evening in Provo, UT. The couple will reside in Orem, UT.

“So, I get pretty excited when we get more than 150,000 daily active users on Facebook, but that doesn’t even compare to my excitement of marrying Whitney (Sorry, Paul.),” said Jason McGowan, Ransom’s future husband. “I’m also really grateful that Whitney set up a shared Google calendar this morning. Just wait until she sees our Web site. I may even put tracking codes and do some SEO on it.”

She is quite competitive, but has yet to play Who Has The Biggest Brain with Jason because she doesn’t like to hurt the feelings of others. Survivor!

On Thursday night, Pace played softball and then filled in on a team for our city’s Survivor event! It was great, although he couldn’t continue due to prior obligations. The best part of the night was that they had REAL people from Survivor China, and since Pace and I are Survivor fans, we were pretty excited (okay maybe just I was pretty excited)! There were only about 8 teams there, so we got to chat it up with Courtney, Frosti, and the winner of Survivor China, Todd Herzog! Well really we only hung out with Courtney, because she thought Chase was cute. I told her I felt like we were already friends (just because I’d already seen her so much on the show). Unfortunately, I left the camera at home, hence the lack of photos, but Courtney gave Chase a sticker that he loved (so I took a pic when we got home). Look how proud he is of his sticker! Hahah!

CALIfragilistic

Hello People, how are you? We are back from California, and although I have not blogged about it until now, it was so wonderful to have the whole family together, if only for a day. My parents are the best for taking care of Chase (and me) for the week– so much action going on around that place! We got to go fishing, to the beach, Traintown, Jessica’s graduation, and much much more. My favorite things were eating at In N Out Burger twice, being with the family, and resting. Chase’s favorite things were riding the tractor with Grandpa, riding the 4-wheeler with Daddy, riding in the big truck with Gino…. notice a trend here? He was also a fan of Pepper the donkey, Heidi the dog, and the owl family that lives down in the barn. Most of all, he loved being with so many fun people (Mommy gets rather boring after a while).

Check out our fun photos in our McPhotos and 3 very cute videos in our McVideos section (in addition to the previous posted video submitted by Gino)! Congrats to Jessica who graduated from high school and who will be here in Utah in just a few days! Woohoo (but sad for BF Matt– we love you Matt)!

We had a good time in CA, celebrating Jessica completing highschool. Congrats! Yeah. So I just wanted to say howdy and hope you’re having a good week. If you left a voicemail over the weekend I’ll call ya back. Otherwise you call me back now. We have some great videos and pics, but Joy still has the camera so… Gino I want those source files of the videos you have. Aight Later.

Goodbye, Family

Tonight we went out to Applebee’s with some of the family, where we said goodbye to Cotton, Nada, baby Luke, and Darin’s parents. They are leaving us! Darin and Nada are going to live in Tennessee for Darin’s PT school, and Cotton is going back to North Carolina. We had to make the goodbyes quick because I felt myself starting to cry and we didn’t need to have any of that… We will really miss you guys!

Father and Son Bonding Time

Chase has wanted to go camping for a long time, ever since Curious George had such a fun camping adventure (on t.v. and in his Curious George Treasury book). So on Friday night, Pace (being the nice daddy that he is) set up the tent in the backyard, bought a couple sleeping bags, blew up the air mattress, etc. "The guys" had a nice evening of sitting around the fire, reading stories, and singing songs.

Then around 9 pm, they attempted to go to sleep. That was when Mommy got home from Enrichment night, and wanted to see how the camping experience was going. But when she went out to see the guys, Chase decided that he wanted to sleep inside where Mommy would be. Basically he ditched Daddy and slept in his own bed that night. Daddy said that the birds and the train were noisy and that he didn’t sleep that well…. Poor Daddy! Luckily they had a little more fun the next morning, when they went up the canyon and launched rockets with other guys in the ward! Thanks for being a good Daddy, Pace!

Our Recent Creations

Last week, Chase and I made those cupcakes that look like ice cream cones for a pre-camp activity I had at church. The funny thing is, I had these at a primary activity once, when I was like 8 or something, and I remember I thought they were the best things ever. So that’s why I decided to make them for the girls! It was the type of thing that took longer than I thought it would to get them completely done, but luckily the Young Women at mutual appreciated them! Oh, and Chase did, too!

Chase made a little "sculpture" or something here; I had him set the table for dinner, and he just got a little sidetracked with the utensils. Pretty funny, I must say!

Pace and I have been working on the yard, and it’s almost done! We just need to get more mulch from the yard waste place, but luckily it’s only 5 bucks a load so it’s not breaking the bank (like the play area kind of did). And I also have decided that I LOVE irises, because they are low maintenance, yet they have been blooming in such splendor lately! We have a little garden, too; we’re doing tomatoes and bell peppers this year. Chase loves playing outside!

And this one is a stretch, but my sis Rachel has "created" a rather good "friendship" with a guy named Adam. We like him pretty well! I took a picture of the two of them yesterday, despite their pitiful protests.
