More Fun Photos of Our Favorite Child :)

Here are Chase and his friend Audrey sitting on the terra cotta turtle in our backyard. They may seem like the best of friends, but they actually have what some may call a love/hate relationship!

Afterwards, they cuddled during a movie (although Chase found it difficult to see the TV while cuddling). Cute!

Don’t be fooled by the cuteness, though. Chase is also a little culprit! Today he succeeded in stealing some ice cream out of the freezer for the hundredth time!!!! If it’s ever quiet in the house, it can be assumed that he’s sneakily sneaking some ice cream. Notice how ashamed he seems in the photos. 😉 But at least he is quite civilized about it; he gets out a bowl and spoon to keep it tidy. It’s frustrating, but even so, I have to stifle a laugh whenever I catch him doing this… But I am not going to buy any more ice cream for a while!

We also went to the BYU Bookstore today (because I haven’t been there in ages), where Chase ripped open a bag of gummy worms and proceeded to devour one. So I ended up having to purchase the bag of gummy worms. Sneaky, sly kid!

He also liked "riding" the wheelbarrow this afternoon!

Farm Country

Here is a superfluous surplus of photos from our outing to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. My little buddy Chase and I went last week with Tiffany and Kyle (thanks for inviting us!). We had good times! I had even more cute photos than this. I have really put the bare minimum on here. :)  I was sad to see that some of the cows were tied up by their mouths. I’m sure it was for some greater cause… but I didn’t take any pictures of that depressing sight. Otherwise, we had lots of fun, and the boys loved riding the real ponies! I couldn’t take photos of that because I was holding Chase steady on the pony.

So anyway, please comment so I will know who our  REAL, faithful, die-hard blog readers are. Because I don’t even know who reads this thing any more, besides some of our family. Which is great too, but, ya know.

TurboTax Rocks!

I am very happy because I filed our taxes last night! I know it’s not even that early or anything, but I am just glad to have gotten them done and it’s over. Last year this task was on my “To Do” list for a long time, and I really dreaded it. This year, it was actually rather painless! I ordered TurboTax through Brad and Tiffany (thanks so much, guys!) and got it over with the same day in an hour or so! Excellent. Tiffany said that they got an outrageous amount back (I won’t say how much). We aren’t getting any more than usual, but we’re happy with what we’re ending up with anyway! And I know it’s not that exciting because it was ours to begin with, but I just love getting our money back! I’m also excited about the Economic Stimulus Rebate which will come closer to summertime, I believe. Fun stuff!

Early Easter Egg Hunt!

This was a fun, informal Easter Egg Hunt we had at the park yesterday, for kids age 5 and under. Here they are getting pumped up before the "competition." I’m proud to say that Chase started the "baskethead" trend! :

At first Chase didn’t want to be in the group shot, but then he conformed so we could get the show on the road.

And they’re off! Here he’s rapidly scanning the field:

Begging for more eggs from the "big girls" who were a bit faster than he was:

And then he enjoyed the loot for a while before Mommy took it away:

Ahhh, all in a day’s work.

All About Chase (shocker, I know!)

My buddy Chase and I have been enjoying the spring season lately, playing outside and playing with friends– his favorite activities! I’ve noticed that the always-moving Chase has been getting injured a lot; you’ll notice in the photos below that he has lots of cuts and scratches, along with a recovering fat lip. I have a feeling that this is foreshadowing what might happen this upcoming summer… But let’s hope not!

I am enjoying the fact that Chase is becoming more mature and fun to play with! He’s old enough to enjoy all sort of new experiences. Today we got the Friend magazine for the first time, which was fun to look through and discuss with Chase. And tomorrow we’re having an Easter egg hunt at the park with some young kids from the ward (I’ll post about that later).

Meanwhile, Chase has been dancing a lot, counting to thirteen (?), saying the alphabet the best he can, and singing. Tonight he was singing/yelling nonstop while we watched the first part of American Idol. I kept having to rewind parts of it so I could actually hear. Watch out, America, you may see him on that show… in about 15 years!!! Chase also enjoys knowing who I’m talking to on the phone, and sometimes he guesses who it is by the end of the phone call if I’ve mentioned their name or their kids’ names during the conversation. It’s entertaining. Speaking of entertaining, here are two little conversations that popped up tonight:

                 At dinner time…

Pace: "Here’s some corn, Chase."

Chase: "Deh-dew, Daddy!" ("Thank you, Daddy!")

Joy: You’re so polite, Chase! Good boy!

Chase: "Welpum, Mommy." (You’re welcome, Mommy.")

              At bed time…

Joy: "Daddy and Mommy got married in the temple."

Chase: (throwing arms up in the air) "Yay! Hooray! Yay Mommy, yay Daddy! Yeppers!"

Our New “Pet”

No, we did not actually get a real pet, and I hope we don’t EVER get a real pet. What we DID get is… A Dyson vacuum! Now, I don’t mean to brag; I’m just really happy with the suction and performance of this thing! And don’t go thinking that this was some sort of impulse purchase; I’ve been researching vacuums for months!

See, I actually enjoy vacuuming, but I have been frustrated with our $70 Bissell vacuum that we bought at Wal Mart (over 3 years ago). I’ll just sum it up by stating that it didn’t do much of anything that a vacuum should do. So lately, Pace and I have been searching the internet, asking people about their vacuums, and browsing Consumer Reports. I initially didn’t think that we should buy a Dyson because 1) Consumer Reports didn’t have it rated as one of the best, and 2) They’re so expensive! No thank you.

But as we talked to people, everyone who had a Dyson said it’s excellent, works perfectly, and they love it. Not many people can say that about their vacuums! So I looked on the Dyson website, and of course, they ranged from like $400-$600. I didn’t want to spend that much. I wasn’t sure, but my wonderful friend Cynthia let us borrow her DC14, and it was so awesome! I vacuumed 2 rooms in our house and the canister was full. Gross, yet satisfying! Then it was time to return it to Cynthia, but I wanted to vacuum the house again, because I didn’t know how long it would be before we would get a new vacuum!

We checked out the Dysons at Sears, and found an awesome sale going on. The vacuum we liked best, the DC14, was on sale for $365! Still quite pricey, but we felt (and still feel) that it’s worth it. After some discussion, negotiation, and “niceness” on Pace’s part, we ended up going back and buying it! And it’s great: Easy to use, great suction, not too heavy, 5-year warranty, no filters or bags to buy, effective on carpet and hard floors, and looks cool, too! Hooray! I love our new pet.

A scientific discussion of the spirit.

Very interesting stuff here (19 mins long), this lady has a stoke – normal. This lady was a brain scientist when having a stroke, not normal. Then she has a very unique experience, one which I think was similar to Lehi’s dream but based more upon the scientific knowledge that she was so familiar with. Interesting how science is still catching up with the doctrine already provided by God. That we are so much more than just a physical body, but an immense eternal spirit combined with a physical system. Cool things to think about.

What are your thoughts on it?
