Attention

Some loose ends I wanted to post about.

First Congrats to Stephan for getting engaged! He even beat McGowan.

Second, a group of us are playing Ultimate on Saturday (24th) morning at the intermural fields on the corner of university and university, please come and bring any friends you can. We are meeting at 9:45AM and starting to play at 10.

Third, Don’t miss game SEVEN of the stanley cup finals tonight at 8pm eastern on NBC. Winner takes the cup, and to be honest the Hurricanes really need to turn around their gameplay if they are going to win.

Fourth, there are some new pictures in the random album on the mcphotos page.

Fifth, Ryan and Aubrey had their baby, Rhett, on Cotton’s bday! Yeah Aubrey endured 12 hours at the hospital in labor. Read the whole story.

McBalderdash score

The results are in. Everyone did so wonderful with this word. I especially liked the canadian ones. Mainly b/c Canadians are fun to hit around, but secondly b/c a candian team is draging out the stanely cup finals. Also for that reason no Canadian is going to win this Balderdash. But instead Cotton wins it for giving me the mental image of Batman throwing a batarang at the Oilers goalie… well he didn’t really say that, but he mentioned a fat ugly canadian, so…. anyway here is the score break down that doesn’t really matter.
Ryan:300,000 points for slapping canadians, but minus 200,000 for not having an avatar. Brad: 17 points for trying to squeeze out pity. Cotton :1 Million points for the imagery you created in my brain. Steph:700,000 for making me think of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on a day other than Sat morning. Tmom: Lots of points for trying to use something from history, but you lost them all b/c you don’t have an avatar. Rachel:-200 points for not having the huge punch in the face be to a canadian. Joy:900,000 points for using your definition in a sentence.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COTTON!

Cotton grew older today, along with the rest of the world… but he gets to say he’s a whole number older. And yes, I forgot that today was the 16th, but I remembered that Cotton’s birthday was coming up this month… so thank you mom for reminding me that today is the 16th. And happy birthday Cotton.

Symbolism of Color

There is one boy in our class who picks a favorite topic and talks about it for two months till he moves onto the next thing. These days it’s pirates. During our lesson today, we taught about the words of Jesus being a treasure map that leads back to Heaven. Of course Ben (the pirate kid, whose name may or may not have ben changed to protect the innocent) was very interested as soon as he heard the word treasure. During the coloring part of the class, Ben was coloring his tresure chest and explained to me why he picked the colors he did: “brown is for treasure chest, black is for evil, and red is for bloodyyyyyyyy!” And yes, he did hold out the -ie- sound of bloody. It was funny.

Pretend you are an athlete

I am curious to know if anyone (that includes everybody) would want to participate in some fantasy football this NFL season. If you have never done something like this it is quite entertaining and makes all the games much more significant other than simply rooting for your favorite team, you instead cheer on individual achievements. The actual process is fairly simple depending on how many people want to play. The group will either decide to hold a mock draft where we all pick players one at a time (but you are not required to do this the computer will choose the best person available automatically) or just let the randomizer organize the teams. Then once everyone has their “teams” each week you decide who is going to “start” and who will be on the bench. IE Peyton Manning and Doug Flutie are on your squad and you decide (wisely) to have Peyton “start” and he throws 4 touchdowns earning you 120 points for that week. It is all quite fun and exciting, and its run through yahoo so they even keep a little “baseball” card of how you do in each league every year for those who play often. If you are interested please tell me here so I can set up the league and let everyone know what to expect. If not you can return to discussing more important things now, thank you for your time.

Goodbye Chris.

I would like to take this opportunity to say sorry to one of my sisters, Rachel. I figure she is probably having a hard day today, because her favorite Idol, the rocker Chris Daughtry, got voted off American Idol last night. It was a shocker for all of us, it’s true. Chris really should have won. But I know that Rachel was particularly fond of this Chris character, so I wanted to let her know that I am thinking of her during this time of trial.

Friendly Reminder

This Tuesday is a great day, it’s free cone day at Ben and Jerry’s. Starting at noon, all the ice cream you can eat for free, as long as the line is short. So it would be a great idea for families and friends, employees and employers (hint hint) to go to Ben & Jerry’s as often as possible on Tuesday! Have fun and don’t get fat!

Chase update: He’s doing great.
