Add this to your Christmas list!

Ah, technology is so great. I recently saw the 10th anniversary edition of Transformers the movie, completely restored and digitally remastered. Now an old classic that always took up too much room has been reborn. This time on your refrigerator! I think when you see this video of marble madness your Christmas list will get a couple of items longer.

“Drop a marble in at the top and watch it rattle and roll its way through the purple and green tunnels on its way to the dog bowl, or rearrange the components however you please. Naturally, any magnetic surface will do, so the system is just as comfy on filing cabinets, desktop computers and other people’s cars.

The kit is $40 (now on sale for $30!!) and includes 2 eight-inch and 2 six-inch rails, 2 switchbacks, a “tornado,” two spinning buckets, a Ferris wheel, catchbox and 12 starter marbles. You’ll be wanting four sets, at least.”

Icee you see we all see

I enjoy Icees a lot. I generally like them better than Slurpees because they have seemingly smaller granules of ice in them. The other day I went to Burger King to indulge in a refreshing Cherry Icee, and I discovered that they have something called an Icee Float. It’s the same as an Icee except it has a bit of vanilla milkshake added to it, so it tastes creamier. I think it’s relatively new, at least new to me. And the good news is that it’s the same price as the original Icee; the small one is only a dollar! That’s a lot cheaper than a lot of other specialty drinks like that (such as ones at Sonic). There are only two flavors, though: Cherry and Coke. I feel that they would be wise to make a root beer flavored one, because that would be a tasty alternative to the typical boring root beer float. Have you tried an Icee Float yet? What do you think?

Plain Old Vanilla

I’m copying Josh Porter by writing a little about the fairly new vanilla Frosties at Wendy’s. I think they’re pretty good, if you like plain vanilla-flavored things. Supposedly they’re trying to target young adults by having a new breakfast menu and introducing this vanilla Frosty. Seems ironic because usually young people seek for flashier things, not more plain and simple things. But whatever, some people don’t like chocolate (heaven forbid) and also it’s nice to choose which flavor rather than always getting the predictable chocolate Frosty. I think this vanilla one basically tastes like soft serve ice cream, or a chocolate Frosty with vanilla rather than chocolate flavoring. No matter what, it beats a plain vanilla shake from any of the other fast food chains! Go ahead and try one today! (Wendy’s should pay us for this.)

Have YOU seen the Maverick Monster?

Just kidding. I guess if you don’t have any local Maverick gas stations or don’t watch tv, you might not get that corny line. But regardless, I would like to post a review on the fat free frozen yogurt at Maverick. It is DIVINE! They have different flavors at different locations, but at the one near our place, they currently have Chocolate, New York Cheesecake, Mint, and Georgia Peach. That last one is my favorite, even though I haven’t even tried the other flavors. But a cone of it is 89 cents, on sale this week for 79 cents (woohoo)! The best part is that you help yourself, so you can mix flavors, and pile it as high as you feel appropriate! The only thing is that you have to eat it really quickly especially if you get a foot-high cone of it, or else it will melt all over your car. So even if you do nothing else today, go try the frozen yogurt at Maverick–it’s delicious and nutritious (well, kind of)!

Best of Utah (5 out of 5 stars)

As part of a new area of McBlog, we are going to have reviews of places Joy and I eat at, movies we see, and anything else we feel like rating. Tonight, the award for Best BBQ in Utah goes out to Ryan Gardners home style BBQ in Spanish Fork UT. HOLY MOLEY! We ate some of the finest, juiciest, most tender Hickory BBQ things I had ever eaten. And you can tell they were good b/c I don’t even know what part of the animal it was and I still enjoyed it! Thanks Ryan for opening my eyes to slow charcoal cooking BBQ. I would highly reccomend paying Ryan 20 bucks to get him to cook at your next party. He has to earn enough money to pay off the wireless electronic meat thermometer which he claims is one of his secrets. His grilled pineapple is pretty dang good too, but Ryan I think you need to figure out something to grill that can have chocolate on it. The pineapple should be a side with the meat. 😉 Thanks for the great food!
