Traveling with babies???

Hey does anybody have any advice on taking babies on long car and airplane rides? We’re about to go to visit Pace’s family across the country, and I’m quite nervous about Chase’s behavior in the process of getting there! I have seen some suggestions online, but I would love some tips from our McBlog readers (especially from those who have actually experienced it) :).

Moving

While most of you are watching the BYU football game, I’m typing this with one hand while holding Chase! We wanted everyone to know we are moving to Springville next month (pending on no surprises from the inspection). We are SO excited! Chase can hardly wait to have his own room! We should be moving in th elast week of Oct and can hardly wait! Everyone is welcome to come vist us after that and bring a house warming gift. (or three) 🙂 Well Chase woke up now so it’s time to sstop writing, maybe we’ll add more later, like details of the house.

Sweet Sixteen!

Today is Jessica Terribilini’s 16th birthday. Happy birthday! For those of you who can’t believe she’s already 16 years old, I’m with you on that one. Jessica, you used to be a girl but now you have blossomed into a woman, like a flower that has just bloomed. I talked with Jess on the phone a couple days ago, and she said that she had 2 dates lined up for this weekend, and TMom just informed me that a boy was taking her out for smoothies today. So the boys are lining up, apparently! Way to go. This is a much different story than my own at that age… The boys weren’t exactly lining up… But, hey, I caught a good one in the end, so it’s all good. Jess, you must be sending out the right vibes or something. Anyway, happy birthday “baby sister”!

Note worthy events

There is a massive party this weekend for those in the Utah area. It will be in front of Losee Jewelers in Cottontree square. (That’s over by movies 8 ) Starting at 8pm, there will be free cotton candy and drinks, a money booth with lots of prizes and a dj. Plus a fashion show from Paul Mitchell / Shade Clothing / GAP / and Buckle. Yancy, I will be disappointed if I don’t see you there with 15 girls! OH and Jason’s Deli is giving out free ice cream cones starting at 6pm!!!!

Secondly, Apple announced a 24 inch imac that’s pretty sweet if you have $2000 bones to burn. And on Tues the 12th they should be announcing new versions of the iPod along with feature film downloads from iTunes music store. I don’t know why on earth you’d want to stare at an iPod for 2 or 3 hours… but maybe some people do. There are tons of rumors flying around, check em out at macrumors.com

My new favorite hobby

Checking out house prices on Zillow.com! It’s sweet, they take public records and recent sales to estimate house prices for any given address. And if the public records are wrong you can edit the specs to match what it actually is and see how much it should be and find comparables. It’s very fun to check out your house, your parents house, your inlaws house…the white house. 🙂 Check it out if you’re bored or shopping for/selling a house.

Home Sweet Home???

We are no longer moving into the townhouse we have been anticipating moving into. Basically, along with some other issues, it just didn’t feel right anymore. But we still want to move ASAP. So for the last few days, we’ve been looking around the area for a house, not a townhome. We have come to the conclusion that Orem has some elevated prices right now, so we’re looking around different cities closeby. Even though Orem is ideal since that’s where it’s at, and since so much of our family lives there now, the prices seem a little steep for what you’re getting. But Orem would be the city of choice for us right now. Anyway, we like one in Springville, which is just south of Provo, but we want to look a little more just to make sure… You know, date around a bit… It’s sort of like trying to get married, I think. You go to some places and they are just not right for you, and you know it after just a few minutes. They’re either too rough around the edges, a little too old, or something about them is just too annoying. But then you find that one special place, and it just feels right even if it isn’t 100% perfect, but its imperfections are things you can live with (especially compared to the imperfections of other places you’ve experienced). If you walk in and it feels like home, it might just be the one for you.

Last deep thought from Primary

Ahh yes, the last deep thought from primary for a while. We were finally released today from teaching the 4 & 5 year olds at church. The deep thought comes from Alex as he gave the prayer to start class: “Please bless us to die with joy”…… Amen

Are you for real!?

Have you ever seen a picture or video and you think, wow howd that happen? or that’s one lucky photographer to catch that scene as it happened! or Wow that celeb looks better/worse than yesterday… well you’re probably right. Photoshop fools many people a day, including magazine & newspaper editors. Here is a great story on CNET that gives some great examples; I really enjoyed it. So next time you get the amazing shot of the week in your junk mail, just remember that Adobe is very proud of their lead photo editing software.

This lead me to thinking, who can I trust now? If I can’t trust pictures from high profile magazines and news stations.. I’ll have to start thinking on my own! We all will continually have to ask, is that really possible? Could those two people have really meet each other, and why would they? Why would the shark have attacked the helicopter? Oh darn you photoshop for making my brain have to think about every one of the thousands of images it sees each day. Just a warning to everyone, the phrase “seeing is believing” is no longer true. I guess we’ll all depend on faith now!
