Chase likes to:
–ride Daddy’s scooter
–play outside in the leaves (that blow over to our lawn from the neighbors’ tree)
–help me "organize" the drawers
–be cute.
Pace came home from work yesterday and surprised me with this beautiful bouquet of 2 dozen roses! I was very pleased, and shocked, to say the least. What a thoughtful guy! I only have this one cute yet small vase, so they are kind of squished in there… maybe if I make it to the store today I’ll get a bigger one– I need to be prepared for future bouquets, you know!!! 😉
On Saturday night during Conference weekend, Deseret Book apparently has a Ladies’ Night Out with which involves discounts, drawings, refreshments, etc. I had never been, so I told Rachel and Nada about it and we decided to go check it out (Rachel’s roommate Betze came too). The flyer had said that the first 100 women in line at 6pm would get a free clock, and it looked cute. We got there at about 5:35 pm and the prospects looked pretty good (maybe because it was rainy).
We got in line and counted approximately 70 women in front of us. Yesss! We were definitely going to get the free clocks! However, we noticed that the line in front of us was slowly growing. People were saying HI to friends and CUTTING in line! Hello, this was at an LDS Bookstore, during Conference Weekend, no less. Had they been getting anything out of Conference at all?!?! 🙂 The two elderly women behind us were getting rather perturbed concerning the matter. By the time we got to the door, we were about #94-97 I think. So the old ladies behind us didn’t end up killing anyone. 😉 And we got our free clocks! It’s amazing what people will do to get something that’s free!
It was very crowded in the store, and the "refreshments" turned out to be one plate containing about 20 cookies, so that was a bit wimpy. But we all ended up winning a random book or CD, and bought a few things on sale. I bought a book for Chase, called My Favorite Stories from the Book of Mormon. It’s a lift-the-flap board book that has pictures and short poems about some of the stories from the BofM. We weren’t sure whether all the effort had been worth it, but it did turn out to be an exciting evening– better than staying at home! Thanks to Rachel and Nada for their willingness to help entertain Chase while we were there! Here are a couple photos of Chase in the shopping cart (while we waited in line– he didn’t stay in there for long)!
As if Joy posting twice last night after she found out how easy it was to post pictures wasn’t enough… I just wanted to share with you this video. It helps us all remember, sometimes the old fashioned way of doing things is a lot healthier.
Oh and Joy is using Windows Live Writer to post those pictures to the blog. I would and I believe Joy would too, HIGHLY recommend it for anyone that finds it too hard to post photos with your text.
I just wanted an excuse to post a few photos of our now 18-month-old child! Where has all the time gone? I don’t know. But what I do know is that we have one busy, cute, entertaining boy. Yesterday I found Chase sitting contentedly in the bathroom sink (see photos). I think he wanted to put makeup on like Mommy does. Apparently he got up there by climbing onto the toilet, stepping on the toilet paper thing, and pulling himself up. Hence the nickname "little monkey." I think he’s been watching too much Curious George in the mornings!
The sweater photo is one I snapped this morning when I was trying to round him up to take him to the doctor’s office. He’s had cold after cold already this season, which I suppose can be traced back to nursery (always the culprit). But yesterday, he started having a bit of a croupy cough (I don’t really know how to spell it– I don’t reckon I’ve ever written that word in my life). The guests we had over for dinner commented on how he was breathing like Darth Vader, which he was. So after a sleepless night of crying and wheezing and coughing, I took him to his wonderful pediatrician. In the car on the way there, I told Chase that we were going to the doctor, and he said "Hi Doctor!" However, he was no longer excited when the nurse put a mask over Chase’s face so that he would breathe in some medicinal vapor to open up his constricted throat. That didn’t really go over as well as the nurse had anticipated, what with all the kicking and screaming. So then he was disturbed further when they injected some more medicine into his leg that would help keep his throat open for the next little while. Apparently he has a more severe form of the croup than I ever remember having! The doctor said that if Chase didn’t seem improved by tonight, he should go to the hospital. Luckily, he seems a lot better than he did last night. We are just keeping the humidifier going, exposing him to some cooler air, etc. Let’s hope this thing doesn’t go on much longer!
We already had plenty of snow last weekend, and supposedly there’s more to come in the near future. So our huge over-watered tomato plants are probably done producing for the season because it’s gotten colder. We planted them a little late (in June) so all the little green tomatoes were just barely turning red… However, I just wanted to show off one of the big ones that we got from those plants. We had a few that were this size. And thanks to the TParents for getting the tomato plants for us!
Also– HAPPY BIRTHDAY today to my now 22-year-old "baby brother" Gino, and also to Pace’s Grandpa Lipps!!! Hooray!
My work is holding a foosball tournament to determine where the new foosball table will be put. Our floor entered five teams, b/c we really wanted it. After the first round yesterday, none of us were left. 🙁 Now our only hope is the floor below us wins and we will take their old one. But I got a sweet jersey!
Oh oh, look out Joy, I’m going to hold you to your word. Joy said she would like blogging more if it were easier to upload photos… well I found something honey, and now you’ll have to actually post more.
