Baby Girl Bedding

In our baby’s room I want a shabby chic type of feel, basically set by the bedding. Yes, the bedding is very important! I really like the Simply Shabby Chic Candy Patchwork set from Target. (If you are concerned that it’s not pink enough, I would also get a pink rug for the floor.) A close-up shot of the bumper pad is pictured to the right. I love the patterns! However, the only concern I have is that this bumper pad only ties at the top, and not at the bottom. That makes me nervous about the baby getting trapped somehow, but at the same time it’s not like she would suffocate because the crib slats would be right there…. So maybe it’s not a big deal. Am I just being a worry wart? May I please hear some opinions or experiences about bumpers that only tie at the top?

SWEEET!

Chrysler announced new electric vehicles! You can get a jeep, viper, caravan, or other thing. Check out the photo album on autoblog.

So what do you think? Will your next car purchase be an electric vehicle? Will you buy from the big names or try one of the start up companies?

Pretty Chocolates

                             DSC02659      DSC02665

A couple weeks ago, I threw a baby shower for my friend who’s about to have a boy. I just wanted to share this cute "chocolate label" idea that I got from a neighbor for the occasion! You just buy some Hershey’s Nuggets and some regular mailing labels. Then you stamp the label and put it around the chocolate (it helps if you have these special stamps that my neighbor has that work perfectly for this). Easy, yet amazingly cute, I think!

A Walk to Remember

                            DSC02675           DSC02683

Last Sunday, we went on a little walk in Hobble Creek Canyon. We have been spending a lot of time outside. The leaves are changing to that glorious rusty red color and the weather is ideal, so we are partaking of the perfection while it lasts (meaning before the evil snow interrupts our happiness)!

Chase loved being free to run all over the place. He had to go pee while we were there, so Daddy taught him how to pee out in the woods. Chase was an instant fan of this idea! (Just the other day, I was in the garage and Chase was in the front yard, and he came and took me to the spot in the bushes where he had just gone pee! I had to explain that we only do that when we’re in the woods and there’s no toilet!) As I always say, "He’s SUCH a boy."

                                                 DSC02679

After he peed in the woods, he "read" this nearby sign to us, which according to Chase said, "This is where Chase went pee pee in the woods." We had a good laugh over that one.

We loved checking out the water under the bridge! I say it a lot, but I appreciate the fact that Pace is such a fun, patient, loving daddy to Chase. I know that’s not something to take for granted! Good times.

Baby Girl Clothes???…

Yesterday we had Brad and Tiffany over for dinner, and they gave us a a cozy pair of purple baby girl pajamas– thanks, guys! I admitted to Tiffany a little later that I feel somewhat intimidated when I check out baby girl clothes in stores! It could be because there is such a large selection, or because I am just used to boy stuff now, or maybe it’s because there’s a lot that seems too over the top in my mind. I kind of like how boy stuff is so basic and has plain designs and patterns, like little stripes and trucks. I think my favorite things to see on girl clothes are ice cream cones, cupcakes, and apples– foody items! But I don’t like things that are too floofy or frilly; just plain, classic types of clothing are the cutest to me. I also like outfits that make baby girls look like classic little ladies, such as Baby Gap-style clothing. I came across the little hat in the above picture, and thought that is the cutest thing ever (Katelyn and Co.)! So I do like girl clothes, I guess it’s just harder to weed out what I like and what I don’t compared to the boy stuff… Anyway, just thought I’d throw that out there to help sort out my thoughts and “fears”! 🙂

Am I a man?

According to Popular Mechanics I can now calculate my % of the man I am. Just look at the list of 100 and write down how many you know. if you can do 50, you’re 50% man… me I’m 111% man. Listen to the story, then check out the list.

All Aboard the Potty Train!

Well Chase is basically potty-trained now and I am so happy! I say “basically” potty-trained because he still needs help unbuttoning his pants, and he still wears a diaper overnight because he doesn’t wake up to pee. But I’m fine with that, since I believe that every sleep-filled night is a major blessing in life anyway! We are very proud of Chase for being a big boy and wearing underwear now.

A few months ago I read the book Toilet Training in Less Than a Day, hoping to at least get some pointers concerning this daunting task (it really freaked me out for some reason)! I felt like Chase was ready because from 20 months old he did most of his poops in the toilet– he didn’t like the feel of poop in his diaper, and I didn’t blame him! 🙂 And then starting just a few months ago, whenever I put him in the bathtub, he would pee on command before I plugged up the tub. So we tried the Toilet Training in Less Than a Day approach. That wasn’t a fun day for me, but it was a start. He didn’t seem quite ready, though, because most of the time he would say “I have to go pee!” and he would already be standing in a puddle. I decided to wait a couple months so that maybe he would have more bladder control.

So recently he really wanted to start wearing his big boy underwear again, so I just told him that was fine but that he would need to keep it dry. We put the kid seat on the big toilet and put a stool next to the toilet so he could reach it (I didn’t want to deal with a little potty). We eased into the training more this time, and I think that worked well for him because he didn’t feel as much pressure. I didn’t take him to the toilet all day like some do, because he would resist and because I can’t remember things like that. I just praised and encouraged him a lot, asked him periodically if he was dry, and then sometimes I would reward him with a treat if he was. Then when he had an accident, I would make it very clear that we don’t like having wet pants and he would have to take off his underwear and put it in the hamper. It’s been about 2 weeks now, and he has had a few accidents of course, but we are excited for the “basic training” that he has completed!

Oh Dear…

I know where Rachel will be all Fall…

Archuleta cut into corn maze
September 24th, 2008 @ 7:45am
By Randall Jeppesen

Brett Herbst wanted his massive corn maze just behind Thanksgiving Point to take on a presidential tone this fall. But he says it took time to figure out what they wanted.

“We kind of didn’t really care for either one of the candidates, so we’re like, ‘Let’s do Archuleta 4 President,'” he says.

So he’s hoping the chance to get up close and personal with David Archuleta will bring crowds of people who maybe want to walk through Archuleta’s ear.

“They’re in his eyeball, his lips or whatever,” he says.

He added getting permission to use Archuleta’s image was no easy task.
