Easter
Hope everyone had an enjoyable & uplifting Easter! I’m sure many are tired of reading about people’s Easter Egg Hunts. So I’ll just post some photos from our Easter Sunday at GG & Grandaddy’s place! Their yard isn’t as green as ours yet, because they live “way” up north where it’s still cold all the time.
Blinking Beauties!
Of course, Casey was making a weird face when I was trying to snap the photo, so I told him, “Normal face!” and waited, & that smile is what he eventually came up with.
Kids Enjoying Life
When my family was visiting a couple weeks ago, my brother Gino took some entertaining photos of Chase & Charlotte enjoying watermelon and playing in the backyard. Here are a few:
They love Uncle Gino!
“Pem-pess” (=Princess) Charlotte
Our little girl truly enjoys being a girl. Can you tell?
She wears dresses every single day, she LOOOOVES jewelry & Mommy’s cosmetics, and she likes wearing her clip-clop shoes when we go to the store so she can hear them clip clop as we walk along. (It takes us a long time to walk anywhere, though!)
She also loves princesses and Barbie. When I was dropping Chase off at preschool a couple weeks ago, Charlotte suddenly pointed & shouted, “Barbie!!!!” I looked out the window to where she was pointing, and sure enough, it was the preschool teacher’s next door neighbor, who truly DOES look like Barbie! What a hoot.
Charlotte’s a BIG girl now, because she’s potty trained! We did it. We have to deal with the occasional accident while she’s playing & doesn’t think about getting to the toilet, but she’s doing very well overall. No more diapers!
We had Sarah K. from our ward babysit our kids the other night. She did Charlotte’s hair—I loved it! I need to learn how to french braid! (this photo is of the next-day version of it)
Sarah also brought Charlotte a Sleeping Beauty locket, which Charlotte instantaneously fell in love with and grasped tightly saying, “It’s mine. You can’t have it! It’s mine.” I said to her, “What do you say to Sarah?” and she immediately wrapped her arms around Sarah while exclaiming, “Thank you SO much!” We put tiny pictures of Rapunzel & Ariel inside the locket so she could have various princesses with her at all times. Such a sweet girl!
These two could be in an Abercrombie catalog.
My “Slaves” Hard at Work
These two like to clean the windows. So, why not let them both clean at once?
Although they use WAY too much Windex and leave the windows all streaky, I love it when they do chores willingly like this. Chase takes his job seriously and tries to do a very thorough job. So cute. I know I must savor such things while they last!
Charlottization
This may just look like an ordinary dresser, armoir, or whatever you want to call it… But it’s actually a dresser that’s been Charlottized! Our little girl may have some sort of OCD (hopefully not). Besides her hatred of any sort of tag on her clothing, she also thoroughly enjoys opening all these dresser doors & drawers (then walking away). She also unscrews every type of knob we have in the house that can be unscrewed, and just leaves it sitting nearby. So when someone goes to open a drawer, they are surprised to find that there’s no knob to pull. Very sneaky & silly girl!
Recent Quotables
Chase:
- "Aren’t I a genius?!”
- (I like to put gel in his hair, but he opposes.) Once, when he was headed to preschool he said, “I want to keep it flat, so the girls will like it.”
- Then another time, I told him we needed to at least put water on his hair before school, because it was really messy after waking up. I was surprised when he consented, saying, “Oh yeah. I noticed it was sticking up earlier. The girls wouldn’t like it like that.”
– (he saw a cool toy in a catalog & suddenly burst out: “I want that so bad, I can’t even go anywhere! I just have to stand here until I buy it!” (Needless to say, he did not get to order the toy.)
Charlotte:
- “Of course, Mom!”
- Chase hides & tells her to come find him, and she hollers back to him, “No. I’m too busy.”
- She also thinks that “busy” is what you say for “dizzy.” So she’ll spin around and say, “Whoa! Busy!”
- “Oopsies Daisies.”
– (upset & frowning): “Chase hit me ONE TIME!”
- “Oh. Yes.” (says it all the time, very cheerfully/matter-of-factly)
We haven’t tried very hard to get Charlotte potty trained, we usually wait till the kid shows interest. Charlotte has not. HOWEVER, she has started lifting her dress and secluding herself, so I think she will soon be wondering how to keep the poop off her. I find it very entertaining, so here is a video of it.
“Poh-tews”
As of about a week ago, Charlotte loves to wear ponytails in her hair! I’m ecstatic, because for a while there, her hair was just looking stringy & unruly all the time. Her “styled” hair is very cute… But we think she looks really old with her hair done! She requests “poh-tews” every day now.
