I Love This Baby

(We’re posting a lot because Uncle Gino is “making” us.) Next week, Charlotte will be 9 months old (which I can’t believe)! She still has that lovely baby scent and I can’t help but smell her sweet head all day long.

Nowadays, she has a little more hair on her head, and she’s also crawling, pulling herself up on things, and squirming around like she never has before. Entering the ACTIVE days!

Charlotte has realized that she can pull herself up on the sides of the crib, so Pace lowered it all the way yesterday. Charlotte is definitely not a newborn anymore!

It’s good that she’s so cute (we say that a lot with our kids), because during the last few nights, Pace and I have both had our first “real” moments of frustration with this angel baby. Let’s just say she has NOT been an angel all night long, or at nap times. Today was a little better with naps, though, so let’s hope it’s just temporary.

I am glad that Pace is very patient and helpful with Charlotte during these times. He likes to sing to me, “You’re gonna miss this… You’re gonna want this back…” Haha! We’ll still keep her, though.

Daddy daughter date

Charlotte and I went on our first daddy daughter date. It was a short date, we went to the couch, then fell asleep. I had fun, and I told her we could do it again sometime.

Keeping ’em on a schedule???

Charlotte is such a sweetie babe, and I just “eat her up” every day. I’m enjoying this easygoing baby so much! I’m glad she’s happy and healthy. I just have this one question lately… HOW do you keep a baby on a consistent schedule? I have read Babywise, Healthy Sleep Habits, and many other sleep books, but none of them seem do the trick for this girl staying on a good schedule. One thing that I think is helpful is that I don’t nurse her to sleep, like I did for Chase, so she doesn’t rely on that to get back to sleep.

I try to keep things regular (nap in the morning, nap in the middle of the day, and nap in the late afternoon, & regular bedtime). But then, she’ll randomly wake up really early in the morning, bright-eyed and smiley, which is indeed quite endearing. But this early waking throws everything off for the rest of the day (usually she wakes early because she has to poop or something). She’s also been having some short daytime “naplets” (especially when we go anywhere in the CAR), therefore needing to take more “naplets” to make it through the day, which messes everything up for night time. At night she gets up 2-3x per night, which I know is nothing compared to what Chase used to do… I’m noticing a recurring theme around here with my children! I mean, come on guys, I know I’m lots of fun to be around, but it’s okay if we don’t see each other all night long! 🙂 Ideas/similar experiences/comments/advice?

Charlotte at 6 months old!

Our cheerful, sociable baby girl now weighs in at 17 lbs. She’s definitely a second child because I rarely think to take photos of her. But we love this fun little baby to pieces! She enjoys being held always, loves baby cereal, and watches/laughs at her big brother all the time!

Pretty in Pink

DSC03416   DSC03422

My stylish SoCal brother Gino found this rosy pink Diesel dress for Charlotte at a sample sale! (He also got an awesome t-shirt for Chase—poor little guy has been sick, so no photo shoot for him yet.) I was ecstatic at first sight of these clothes; this dress may very well be the cutest one I have ever seen! (Click on photos to get a better look.) I didn’t have black tights on hand for her, but the white ones worked out just fine. I think Charlotte enjoyed wearing the dress almost as much as I enjoyed dressing her up in it, because she was very smiley when she saw herself in the mirror. 🙂 Can I have one, too?

At church, a 14-year-old girl complimented Charlotte’s dress, and I responded, “Thanks, my brother got it for her.” She then exclaimed, “Oh yeah, that HOT brother?!?!” (She had seen family photos at our house.) haha so Gino you have a 14-year-old admirer here in case you were ever wondering! Thanks for picking out such a sweet dress, Gino, and hope there are enough photos for you to see how it looks on her! 🙂

UNNECESSARY.

Charlotte will not be wanting any such head ornaments! People really do put these ridiculous things on their kids these days. Is it mainly a utah thing? Sorry if this offends anyone, but YUCK!!!

Happy Baby (& Happy Mommy)

DSC03207 DSC03204DSC03197 DSC03200

I did not feel tired today. Wanna know why? Of course you do. It’s because I slept for 7 hours straight last night, which I haven’t done in who knows how long. Yes, Charlotte slept through the night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10:30 pm ‘til 7:30 am!!!

Charlotte is 2 1/2 months old, which is when the Babywise book said a baby would start sleeping through the night when following the sleep, eat, play, sleep pattern. I’ve been aiming to do that routine with her, but it doesn’t usually work out perfectly… So I don’t know if Charlotte is just sleeping well on her own, or if the Babywise idea is working, but whatever it is, it worked out quite nicely last night! Let’s see if it continues. Yes please! Life is sure easier with a good night’s rest.
