What is going on?

I haven’t been blogging because I feel like there is too much to blog about! Overwhelming. So I decided that I will just post some recent photos with captions and that will be good enough!

Well Rachel is casually dating this guy (note the arms). Chase is fond of him as well:

Chase was especially cute in this photo so I had to put it up!

And this one too (Daddy had made us a nice outdoor breakfast):

Okay, here’s one that’s NOT about Chase: Jessica is now here going to school at BYU! Dad and Mom brought her out (sorry I didn’t take pictures…). Also, her BF Matt was able to come for a short surprise visit! We’re glad to have Jess here, and thanks SO MUCH Dad and Mom for spoiling us! Mom got to stay for the week and helped a ton with Chase so I could rest. We love you, Parents!

A couple weeks ago we enjoyed a VERY tasty BBQ dinner at Brad and Tiffany’s (thanks, guys!). Chase and Kyle enjoyed the sand and water table, and Chase enjoyed getting the sand and water all over Kyle… luckily Kyle liked it.

Pace is being the best husband EVER! Some people get bugged when others brag about their spouses, but Pace has just been exceptional and I feel very blessed. He is so handy and smart, he takes care of me and others, and he has just been so understanding (as I have not been feeling great at all the last couple months). He does whatever needs to be done and constantly asks what he can help out with. I love him. Thank you, Pace!

Chase enjoys exploring art at the local museum.

He also enjoys doing artwork with food at home! (I am getting better at loosening up and letting him make big messes).

Also, we got to see a big hot air balloon land closeby a couple weeks ago, and they gave kids little rides, but Chase was too scared of the noise. He also got to go to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time for his friend Rhett’s birthday (thanks again, Ryan and Aubrey)! And as for me, I am at least starting to feel a little better than I have been. We’re having fun!

Cute Moment

Scenario– I’m in the bathroom fixing my hair before going somewhere. Chase is sitting on the toilet watching me.

Chase: “Know what, Mommy?”

Joy: “What, Chase?”

Chase: “Your hair looks really nice.”

I almost died it was so cute! I am very proud of our big talker, and relieved that he can express himself so thoroughly these days! Go Chase! (After this little scenario, he proceeded to ask me if he could brush my hair, and he did a good job– each side of my hair getting equal attention)! 🙂

Chase Montage

Pop some popcorn, grab some ice cream or candy. This one is good. Big thanks to Gino for mixing his video files from our CA trip. Gino always seemed to have his camera out at the right time, except when Chase lifted me in the tractor.

What a cute boy!

Sons are so cool, you can picture them being you when you’re old, they follow you around and want to act like you, and the try to wear your clothes. I came down one morning to find Joy and Chase eating, Joy in her pink robe and Chase in my blue robe. It was very cute.

I just love my family they rock. We had some of my co-workers over yesterday for a BBQ, thanks Ryan for the awesome pulled pork, and Chase was so funny walking around "helping" the "baby" who was actually only a few months younger than Chase. I can’t wait to see how he treats his younger brother when he gets here. 🙂 We also dumped $5 worth of mulch in our backyard, it looks really nice, and prob will for about a month. smells like poop though.. we’re still trying to figure out what to do with the one section of our yard. concrete, or just leave it or lotsa mulch… we’ll see. And finally some more pics to wrap up this update.

Adventures in Chase’s Sleepyland

I must always check on Chase shortly after he falls asleep for bed or for a nap. Why, you ask? Well, to give me peace of mind, and to keep him alive. This may sound a little dramatic, but read on to believe.

— A few days ago, he fell asleep with the side of his face against the edge of the bed. When I moved him, he had a huge dent in the side of his face that looked deep and painful. But that’s not the worst one, so read on…

–Yesterday it was very difficult to get him down for his nap, and I had to put him back in his bed approximately 50 times before he went to sleep. That last time he demanded to stay on the floor rather than the bed, and I let him do so because I was past the point of caring. So he didn’t fall asleep in his bed; he fell asleep across the floor vent with his head partly on a board book and partly on the wood floor. Imagine the lines he had on his face and arms…

— Then today, I checked on him about 20 minutes into his nap, and he was lying sideways across the bed, with a thick blanket wrapped around his head. I was relieved to find that he was somehow still breathing!

All in all a little disturbing, but I’m always glad when he actually DOES get some sleep!

Dino-rrific! (<yes, that’s a stretch)

Yesterday we had the privilege of visiting the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving point for the first time. It's strange that we haven't ever gone there before, but I guess we just didn't know how awesome it would be! First and foremost I would like to give a shout-out to Brad and Tiffany, who not only invited us to go with them, but also had a Thanksgiving Point Pass, so we got in for less than 10 bucks! Definitely worth it. Thank you, Kecks! And luckily, Chase already knew what dinosaur bones were (thanks to Curious George). As soon as we got there, Chase wanted to climb up and touch one of the dinosaur skeletons, but I reminded him that Curious George had knocked a big dino skeleton down at the museum in his attempts to climb them.

Chase was great after that-- his words of the day were "bones" and "Tool!" (= cool!). He and 2nd cousin Kyle just wanted to be free to roam about the museum, really. Fortunately, it's a very kid-friendly place and there were plenty of activities for them. Chase's favorites were the giant sand/water/play area, and the other sand area where they got to participate in archeological digging. Overall, we were impressed and had a great time! And the best part is that Chase slept through the WHOLE night last night-- so we will be returning to this Dinosaur Museum regularly! ;) And I'm sure Pace will be posting some new McVideos soon, since he took like 10 videos or something. Oh yeah, and the first photo below is arguably the cutest ever! Be sure to click on the photos to see them better.

“JUMPING!!!”

That was the word of the day today, because Chase and I went with Rachel (and the 3 kids she’s watching for the weekend) to “Jumpin’ Jacks,” a dirty yet fun place near our local Wal Mart. I have been looking for some place like this for a while now for our energetic child, because these dreary winter days are not very conducive to playing outside (unless you love to be freezing cold). Since both the mall play areas are currently non-existent, we have been wondering how to let all Chase’s energy out– always a big task. But I think we succeeded today, because he was exhausted after two hours at this place full of inflatable slides and bouncy toys!

Overall, I had a good time bouncing around with him. I wasn’t very happy those two times when some rowdy kids trampled little Chase, but we “bounced back” quickly (haha). I also had to try to ignore the yuckiness of all the jumpy toys, especially after I saw a loogie on something we were climbing– yeesh! Chase was afraid to go on the medium-sized slides at first, but then all of a sudden, in a burst of courage, he informed me that we were going to slide. So we went on the medium slides twice!

The cost to get into this place was reasonable; I think it was 5 bucks per person, and I had coupons per usual, so it was 6 bucks for the two of us! Hooray. Now let’s cross our fingers and hope we don’t catch any of the sicknesses that may have been lurking in this place. Check out McVideos sometime in the near future to see if we’ve posted the exciting “jumpy videos!”

Our Wakey-Head

For about the last 5 weeks or so, Chase has gone back to his old ways of waking every couple of hours throughout the night. I think that this new ritual is mainly due to the fact that he has just gotten over 2 colds and the croup, all in a row. Last night I went in there a few times to comfort him, and then around 6:30 am, I asked Pace to take over (because I was completely exhausted). Pace took a folding chair in there and rubbed Chase’s back for a while, I guess. Anyway, at about 7:15 or so Chase woke up once more, and Pace just went and brought him to me in the bed to see if at least Chase and I could go back to sleep. Chase ended up sleeping until 10 am, and I wasn’t about to wake him up, either! He woke up after I had showered, gotten ready, cleaned, etc. It was kind of nice. I could tell he was awake because I heard him up there saying, "Eh-pyene, in thew, eh-pyene" over and over. (Translation: "Airplane, in there, airplane.") I walked in and he was pointing to the bathroom door, but I didn’t really know what he was talking about. He must have heard the recycle truck in the cul-de-sac behind our house or something. Anyway, that was pretty cute. I took him into his room and the folding chair was still there from the father-son “bonding time” early this morning. Chase pointed to it and exclaimed, "Daddy!" I had to chuckle. He’s just so funny now that he can talk! (Below are some random photos.)
