Yummy in my tummy

So I tasted the most amazing cupcake in my life around October. It was a spice cake with some tasty frosting. When I took a bite I thought an angel had just given birth in my mouth. (Just kidding, angels don’t give birth) It was really good, luckily I was eating it at a Halloween party so I got to eat 3 more. Just a few months later, Amber has a little business up and running. Now you have a chance to win some. Check out the details. Good luck!

Surround yourselves

So remember that conference talk a while ago about surrounding yourselves with good things. We took that to heart in the McCulloch household, and got rid of our Asian influenced decor in the living room and put up a picture of the Oakland temple. We also made sure to have lots of pictures of Christ around, to help us remember our Savior. Well, we liked our temple picture so much, we’ve started selling them on our online store, LDSstock.com. We have all kinds of images from temples, to Christ, to Book of Mormon, and Pioneer themes. Check em out.

Time for In-N-Out

Don’t let the vomit reference fool you, In-N-Out burgers hit the spot time after time. And I just confirmed with Sara at In-N-Out corporate that the Orem location will be opening tomorrow, Thursday Nov. 19th at 10:30am. She also mentioned based on the number of calls, that it will be a VERY busy day. There is your announcement / warning, Tyler better plan on some extra time if you are driving past the Univ & State intersection on the way to class.

Here’s the menu to help you prepare, and the “secret menu“.

OH and very important if you are new to IN-N-OUT, get it “Animal Style” because if you don’t it’s just a 1950’s McDonalds hamburger.

Want to earn $50?

Dear Parents,

Your child is invited to participate in a VitalSmarts training video! In these videos, children will be asked to participate in different learning activities like playing a game or copying numbers on a flipchart. The purpose of these videos is to observe children’s reactions to different sources of influence in their environment. It will be a fun and educational experience for the children. Here’s an example of one.

Children will each receive $50 (holiday spending money!) for their participation and will be provided with refreshments during the shoot. Each child’s parent will be required to sign a video release form. This video will be used in VitalSmarts web site, training courses and speeches.

The video shoot will take place on Friday, Nov. 20, and Saturday, Nov. 21, at Noah’s event center in Lindon. (644 N. 2000 W., Lindon, UT 84042).

The following are the time slots and age requirements for the video shoot. The time slots are estimates at this point and we will follow up with exact times as soon as we can. Your child would need to be available for at least 4 hours.

Friday, November 20
– 3:30-6:30 p.m. (7-8 years old)
– 6:30-9:30 p.m. (7-8 years old)

Saturday, November 21
– 7:00 a.m.-12:00 noon (10-12 years old)
– 1:00-5:30 p.m. (9-10 years old)
– 5:30-9:30 p.m. (9-10 years old)

If you would like your child to participate, please email Darren Poulsen at dpoulsen@vitalsmarts.com with your preferred time slot by noon on Tuesday, November 17. Please include your child’s full name and his or her age. There is limited space available and we anticipate the time slots filling up quickly. During some of the activities your child may be asked to sample certain foods like cookies or spinach. Please indicate in your reply any food allergies your child may have.

Thank you for your help and willingness to participate. We’re confident this will be a rewarding experience for both the parents and the children!

Respectfully,

The VitalSmarts Product Development Team

Christmas List 2009

So I’ve decided for Christmas this year I would perform a little social experiment. No survivors or hidden cameras needed on this one though. It all started last year when Joy put 2 things on her list, then she added like 3 more things as it got closer to Christmas. I got her almost everything on her list, except for painting the kitchen and something else. Ever since then, anytime someone walks in our kitchen, I’ve had to hear about how painting the kitchen was all she really wanted… so that sparked my imagination. And I thought what if I told people I want two things, one very specific and one very general, what would I end up with? For a very real life example, lets look at my list for this year:

  1. Star Trek The Next Generation Complete Series
  2. Remote control helicopter

Now the specific one is very pricey, so maybe multiple people will go in on it and buy it, OR maybe one person will say, “well he’s only asking for two things, so I’ll get it for him” OR maybe everyone will say, “sheesh that’s too much, I’ll get him a remote control helicopter”. Which brings us to the second item, a remote control helicopter… but I didn’t say what kind, so that leaves the buyer thinking, ok I’ll get the $20 thing from wal-mart, OR they could go the mid ranged helicopter on the internet, OR they could go with a high end one from the RC model store.

AND what adds more excitement is that there are only two things on the list… so will people say “oh he’ll get the first one from Joy and the second one from his brothers, so I’ll get him a big bag of milky ways”… so really I have no idea what I’ll end up with for Christmas (maybe 12 different remote control helicopters), I just know these two things are on my list. Leave a comment below to let me know what’s on your list, b/c you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take!

Free kids movie!

A while ago the Gardners gave us a GeoTrax movie, and while Chase didn’t own a single GeoTrax toy, he loved the animated shows about trains. He liked it so much we took it with us to NC in June, where we forgot it in the hotel DVD player. So, thinking that Ryan had multiple copies b/c I thought one came with every toy…(they don’t) we asked Ryan for another one. He informed us to get our own! Luckily he said, it’s FREE! That’s right GRATIS (spanish for free)! Sign up now for your own free GeoTrax DVD, the only downside is it will ship sometime in the next 17 weeks, turns out they aren’t too excited to ship your free dvd.
