Tomorrow (Halloween) we’re having a Halloween party at our new home! Please come for a good time. Chase will be dressed as a ninja. Call or email if you want directions to the place of fun and games and happiness! And Happy Halloween!

First of all, I just wanted to mention that it’s snowing here today! Pace called it last night because it was a nice warm day, with warm nighttime breezes, which sometimes precede a snowy day. Yay Pace! (Utilities bills, here we come!)
Yes, we are close to being all moved in! And we love this new place. True, it is 12 years old, but it’s new to us and it’s a mansion compared to our 1-bedroom apt. we just left behind. We have to go clean that place before the 31st to get part of our deposit back, and it seems like such a chore just to set foot in that place of the past! But I am so grateful to TMom and TDad who got us a gorgeous, brand new washer and dryer, with pedestals and everything. And the best part is that they’re INSIDE our house! No more leaving Chase behind to lug the baskets to the apartment complex across the street to “illegally” pay to do our laundry there! They also got us a Roomba, so we’re trying that out and so far I think it’s amazing. And to top it all off, Pace is loving his “man room” downstairs with the hugest TV ever and the new leather sectional couch! So our neighborhood is quiet and charming, our ward is loving and friendly, and the chapel is only a few blocks away, as well as two parks for Chase! No, we aren’t bragging, just counting our many blessings and feeling very grateful!!!
Thanksgiving plans
We are not going out of town for Thanksgiving. We are staying at our own new house for the holiday (which house will hopefully be ours tomorrow)! We are sad not to visit the McC side of the family during the holidays, and the other relatives that will be there…. But we plan on getting together with people around here during that time, especially anyone who is visiting from out-of-town (we won’t mention any names, but we know of someone who will be here whose name starts with “Steph”)! So let us know if you want to get together, anyone!
Ahh North Carolina!
Well we made it safe. Chase does NOT like long car rides. He did amazing on the plane, fell asleep at just the right times. Hate to have seen what would’ve happened if he didn’t. Hopefully we don’t find out on the way home. It was WAY too long of a day though. For the next few years non-stop only! Chase also alked with President Jimmy Carter, that was cool. Now we’re having a good time in NC enjoying the moisture.
First things first, we fixed the doorbell and cleaned out the attic of old toys. Cotton was nice enough to seperate all the toys I wanted into a box labeled, “For Cotton, DO NOT TOUCH” – Thanks Cotton.
Talk to ya later
For those of you involved in McNFL, I hope you’re keeping track. Cotton is winning, but it’s only week one!
A picture show is back on the main page, now with captions on mouse over. Don’t forget to check out McPhotos as well.
We are leaving for Vegas tom afternoon, then off to Carolina on Tues! We are SO excited. I’m sure Joy will post an update on how Chase does traveling.
NEWS FLASH: Provo has crime too. Joy’s bike was stolen sometime this week. She’s very sad. 🙁
Home Sweet Home???
We are no longer moving into the townhouse we have been anticipating moving into. Basically, along with some other issues, it just didn’t feel right anymore. But we still want to move ASAP. So for the last few days, we’ve been looking around the area for a house, not a townhome. We have come to the conclusion that Orem has some elevated prices right now, so we’re looking around different cities closeby. Even though Orem is ideal since that’s where it’s at, and since so much of our family lives there now, the prices seem a little steep for what you’re getting. But Orem would be the city of choice for us right now. Anyway, we like one in Springville, which is just south of Provo, but we want to look a little more just to make sure… You know, date around a bit… It’s sort of like trying to get married, I think. You go to some places and they are just not right for you, and you know it after just a few minutes. They’re either too rough around the edges, a little too old, or something about them is just too annoying. But then you find that one special place, and it just feels right even if it isn’t 100% perfect, but its imperfections are things you can live with (especially compared to the imperfections of other places you’ve experienced). If you walk in and it feels like home, it might just be the one for you.
Yay! (a poem)
Hey! My sis Rachel is here to stay! Hip hip hooray! She’s been checking out boys so we know she isn’t gay! And we’ve been able to see her every day! And that is a-okay! We wouldn’t have it any other way! If you’d like to visit her, you may! But to getting married soon, she says “Nay”! We think she’ll soon eat her words and have to pay! What do you say?
What a Clever Child
What a clever child our little Chase has grown up to be. I feel very motherly writing about this, so that title was kind of a joke. But kind of not, actually. Chase has some entertaining new tricks! He can now hold onto his toes with his hands when he’s lying on his back or sitting. It’s really cute! He grabs onto things all the time, such as my hair, and won’t let go (now I know why mommies like to chop off all their hair). He gets fussy at times, and the only thing that will console him is going outside. But he also laughs more now, especially when Pace comes home and puts on a little “Daddy Show”. He seems to get a bit bewildered when we’re around lots of people though, because he won’t smile and definitely won’t laugh when we’re in groups or crowds. He pays attention when I read stories to him, especially when I sing the book “I’m So Glad When Daddy Comes Home”, which was given to him by Grandma TMom. He drools a lot, blows bubbles with the drool, sucks on his lower lip, and goes “bbmbmmbbbmbmm” with his lips (like the car sound). He also slept through the night last night for the first time in quite a while! I hope that’s a little trick that he will continue to do. Another thing is that when we lay him down on his back, he raises his head and his legs up off the floor, as if he’s trying really hard to get up and walk around. It’s pretty funny. But at least he’s giving his abs a workout– cause he’s definitely turned into a little chubberboy!
“Goin’ to Carolina in my Mind”…
… No, actually for real this time! We’ve been looking for cheap flights to North Carolina for a while now, and we finally found some legit cheap tickets from Vegas to Charlotte. Even though the family don’t know it yet, we’re going to North Carolina September 12-20th! Yeah we’ll have to drive to Vegas the night before and crash at someone’s house, but it’s worth the extra effort for Pace to go reminisce in his old house before it’s sold and for the Southern side of the family to see Chase! So watch out, y’all, here we come!
El accidente
Today Pace, Chase and I were were leaving to go to Target in one car, while TMom and Jessica were in their separate rental car. Those two have been visiting, which has been fun, and they were going to leave after the Target trip. Pace and I were a couple blocks ahead of TMom and Jess, and we waited at the long light on the corner of Freedom and 100 South. Chase was fussy, so I climbed into the back seat and gave him his pacifier. The light finally turned green and as we were driving along, the people in a car on our right ran a red light and plowed into the front right corner of the beloved Camry. So it’s kind of messed up now, needless to say, but fixable. Interestingly enough, there was a policeman in his police car right behind us, so Pace got the info exchange stuff taken care of with him pretty quickly. Most importantly, everyone was okay, even little tiny Chase. I don’t want to think about what may have happened if the car had hit the side where I was sitting, by Chase in the back seat. I ended up driving the Camry home while Mom and Jess took Pace to work. I put Chase down for a nap and just kissed his little head and was grateful to be cuddling him. Things like this cause me to think about how precious life is and that we need to be constantly thankful and improving ourselves and our relationships, because you never know what could happen.
