Chase is a Big Boy Now!

Well, I think we’ve already established that, but I feel like it’s official now that he’s sleeping in a big bed (as of one week ago)!

Background info: Chase has not been sleeping well (again) for the past several months. We noticed that he kept rolling over and smacking the sides of his crib in the night. So I thought, we might as well give him the upgrade to the big twin bed in the other bedroom. Maybe the roominess would help, and couldn’t hurt–I figured that he couldn’t sleep much worse than he already was, so why not??? And the good news is, he’s been sleeping a little better since he moved in there! He’s only been getting up 1-2 times per night now. Hey, every little improvement in that area helps!

Fortunately for us, the TParents had already bought Chase some car sheets, comforter, lamp, etc. last time they were here. We love them (the sheets AND the grandparents)! Chase has been so excited about this new bed and the new sheets and all. Every time I talk to someone about his new big bed, he says "Cars!" He is doing pretty well at sleeping in the bed– he hasn’t rolled out yet! Sometimes it’s hard to get him to stay in bed and calm down enough to go to sleep, but we’ve been following the Supernanny technique (from one of the most helpful tv shows ever) and it really works. What a cute boy this Chase kid is! He is a great talker and we have a lot of fun with him. He will be two years old next month… Can you believe it!? I can’t!

Adios brother

Jason Graham was nice enough to stop by last night before he takes off today to meet up with his buttercup (Laura that was a Princess Bride reference not a direct quote of Jason) in Boston. It was good seeing ya J-lo, we wish the best for ya, and you’re always welcome in our house. Don’t hesitate to call if you need something. I still owe you for driving all my wedding presents back from CA.

I’m a “Happy Camper”

I just wanted to mention that I was called a few weeks ago to be the Assistant Ward Camp Director. (This is in addition to my new-ish calling of teaching Sunbeams). So obviously, this means that I will be attending Girls Camp again this year in July! Last year I went for the last couple of days, and it was enjoyable. It’s a good thing because I was recently released from my Beehive Advisor calling, which I came to enjoy. So this way I will still be able to bond with the girls! I am concerned about leaving Chase for six days, but I suppose I don’t need to fret about it too much yet! …And here I thought I was done with Camp after my teen years back at the beautiful Camp Navarro, but I guess this is where I *still* belong! Luckily we get to sleep in little cabins like the one pictured here. Yessss! 🙂

Chase Chase Bo Base

DSC01833

Thank you everyone, for your support in my time of trial– losing the longest blog post I’ve ever written was hard, but I must go on. Really, I hardly even REMEMBER what I even said. It was a “Chase post” though, so as you can imagine I was going on and on… I could actually sum it up in four words: Chase is so cute. (He is talking up a storm and it entertains us/makes us chuckle on a regular basis.) Maybe I will summarize what I said before with bullet points to make it more approachable.

–I was reading Chase a book the other day in which a boy was putting his bib on for dinner. Upon seeing this picture, Chase shook his head and firmly stated, “No, I doh-wannit.” (He does not enjoy the bib.)

–Chase’s favorite activity lately is to drag a chair to a desirable location (usually a location that is generally forbidden to him) and exploring/conquering the area. In this case it was the front door, which he repeatedly unlocked and locked, then announced laughingly, “I lock the door!” (This is one of the full sentences he has been saying lately).

–Tonight Pace gave Chase a piece of a pickle to eat and I said, “That’s pretty huge!” And then Chase refused to eat it. He kept saying, “No, HUGE!” Pace thanked me for my influence on our son. 😉

–Just now we were having a big family hug and Chase said in a sentimental tone, “Family.”

–Chase loves saying prayers, with our help. He has even gotten to the point where he’s about to have a big bite of food, but he’ll put it back down to have the prayer first. 🙂 When one of us is saying the prayer, Chase likes to insert his own words to have his say. His favorites are: food, car, Rachel, Daddy, Audrey (his friend), and shower. What fun!

–I am glad to say that Chase has finally been sleeping through the night again for the past few days. I don’t want to jinx it by assuming that this will be the new trend, but I will just say that I am grateful for the current circumstances!

700MHz C-block hits reserve price — open access is here

The auction is on and it’s hit the magic number. Now whoever wins the frequency range will be “required” to allow other competitors to use the bandwidth. Thus theoretically allowing more competitors to enter the cell phone/ wireless data delivery section. Still, I doubt your life will change much from it, but you never know with Google involved. Google has changed the way I use the internet…so maybe they can do the same in the real world.

And I also would like you to post your support for Joy who spent 45mins last night typing out a blog entry just to have the computer crash before she input a picture and publish. So it was lost (b/c she didn’t save, but we won’t dwell on that) the point is we all know how frustrating that is and we need to give her support to get back on that horse and write it again, b/c we want to read what she wrote. Right?!?

Okay, I’m just kidding. I don’t have my own show on HGTV, although that would be great fun. But I just wanted to show a few photos of our recent house projects. I already posted about Pace painting the living room for my birthday, but then for our anniversary, he painted our bedroom! Great guy, huh? ALSO, with the help of our next door neighbor, he put up crown molding in our bedroom and in the living room. I love it! I didn’t even ask for the crown molding; it was Pace’s wonderful idea! Thanks Pace (and Larry!)

In our bedroom, I obviously enjoy the simple, symmetrical effect. My mom wanted our mission-style bed for the townhouse, so she offered to get us a new one if we would give her the old one. I was happy to oblige! I love this cherry sleigh bed, and it was a great price at the RC Willey Outlet. I also picked out two photos of the redwoods that Pace took back in CA, printed them in sepia tone, and put them in these cheap wooden frames we had. We received the Christus statue (which is on our dresser) as a gift from Pace’s previous boss when Paul passed away in November. I am really happy with our bedroom decor! Oh yeah, and there’s also a photo of Chase putting the bed together with his new Bosch drill that looks just like Daddy’s. 🙂

A Question

I have a question… WHY do I spend so much time on people’s blogs and lately on Facebook, too? I really get sucked in, and I can spend multiple late-night hours blog-hopping and the like. Perhaps because it’s fun, entertaining, and informative to do so? I don’t know. Really, I do not know the exact answer to that question.

What’s been going on with us lately???

Well, I’m glad you asked. Because I’m going to tell you. Here’s the scoop:

The winter season is very long when you don’t want to play outside in the freezing cold. So Chase has resorted to playing dress-up at times– he’s seen here proudly sporting Daddy’s hockey jersey with the "monster" on it (that’s what he’s labeled the wolverine).

Pace finally got an Xbox 360, so Chase has been trying it out along with Daddy. I must admit he already has the "gamer look" down, if you know what I mean…

Pace and Joy got to go on a New Year’s dinner date while Rachel babysat Chase– thank you, Rach!

Grandma T. came to visit for a week (just went home today–sad). She came basically to help Joy entertain Chase through these long winter days. Thanks for spoiling us too, while you were at it!

Chase still loves eating fruity sugar-free popsicles, even though it’s winter time.

We have big icicles coming off our house.

We love Darin and Nada and their new baby Luke!

Pace brought Joy some gorgeous red roses yesterday because he is in love with her. 😉

Wouldn’t it be lame

VILNIUS (Reuters) – Police in the Lithuanian city of Klaipeda were baffled to discover that a woman arrested for shoplifting last weekend had been registered as dead a month earlier.

The woman’s parents had mistakenly identified a body found in a forest as that of their 27-year-old daughter, Natalya Pavlova, who disappeared from home in November, police said on Wednesday.

It emerged that Pavlova was alive and well and living with her boyfriend in the same town.

“Her parents identified the corpse as their daughter. What could we do?” Petras Mikalauskis, a deputy police chief for the area, told Reuters.

“It was the first such case in my experience.”

The real identity of the dead woman was not known. The police have launched an investigation.
