Marriage

I just finished reading The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. I know these Dr. Laura books are controversial and that some disagree with the principles in these books… But I, on the other hand, been a long-time fan of her previous book, The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands. Both books have helped me to understand my husband better, and to have a more unselfish point of view in our marriage. Here is a great quote from the Marriage one that I just read. I think that it applies to newlyweds and “oldlyweds” alike:

“Of course it is instant disaster, not instant happiness, when two people come together, each with their own notions of how it is going to be… when they marry. Many people perceive marriage as a kind of sauna; you go in and the heat does something to you while you are passive. What [some have] happily discovered is that a good marriage is all about ‘doing’ something, instead of expecting something. When both spouses understand that, it is a beautiful thing” (157).

I am thankful that my husband doesn’t “keep score” in all we do and that he does everything he can to help and show love for me. Especially as we’re apart, I realize how much he does for me and how much I appreciate him. We both believe in building each other up as much as we can, especially in our conversations with others. I know that it makes both of us feel good. The more you focus on the good in each other, the more you see it, and the more it overshadows any faults that might be there. I love and adore you, Pace!

New new new

So we have some new stuff we want to discuss. We welcome Nathan as a new brother in-law, and we look forward to welcoming Casey as another new brother in-law in a few weeks. We also snagged a new camera that takes great photos. And to accommodate the new amazing photos and HD videos, we have a new layout on McBlog. What do you think? Like it?

Concepts of Time

Pictures of fun stuff is coming soon, when Joy transfers me some picts or when she gets back, until then I have lots of time to sit around and think about things, which is cool, b/c I usually don’t get so bored that I say.. hmm I should think. To illustrate that I’m including this great short little speech about TIME. It’s been animated by a great company who I’m starting to really like. Take some time to watch this sch-peel on time. Coming soon, the speech about motivation.

Changes

I am feeling a little bit bewildered about the changes that will occur this summer. With 2 sisters getting married, you can imagine there’s a lot of drama, chaos, sadness, happiness, uneasiness, and excitement in the air. Things are going to change…

We won’t have sister bonding time nearly as often.

Or Sunday evenings filled with food, chatter, and ninja star throwing.

But one thing that I know will stay the same is the length our giraffe-like necks! Some things never change.

Happy 29th Birthday, Pace!

I truly am sorry that Charlotte (& Chase) didn’t get the memo that it was your birthday and didn’t let anyone sleep ‘til 3am. I wish you could have gotten sleep for your birthday… But you got some awesome patience practice and strengthening instead! We’re gonna miss this….

We are glad you’re in our family! We really appreciate your sense of humor and all of your manly skills that you share with us. We’re all so excited when you come home from work, because we love you and know that you love us. Thanks for all your hard work. Happy birthday!

The Outlook Was Bleak.

Early this morning, I realized that it was my last day of school. Unfortunately, I had no idea when or where my last final was going to be held. I had emailed and called the teacher and frantically searched the internet for information, to no avail. But I couldn’t waste any more time figuring out when the test was going to be, because I really needed to study– I hadn’t even started studying for the final yet! Also, our apartment was about to have a cleaning check. I tried to convey the urgency of the situation to my roommates (including Jessica’s friend Adella), who were sprawled out watching TV, chomping on candy & carelessly tossing the wrappers on the ground. No empathy from them. Adding to my great stress was the fact that I really needed to tie up all these loose ends quickly, before catching a flight back home to California in just a few hours!

And when I woke up there was nothing but relief…. Ah, it was just all a dream. Although I wasn’t completely pain-free at that point, because upon waking, I found that the inside of my cheeks were extremely sore, because they had been gnawed on through all the anxiety of the nightmare.

SO here’s a SHOUT-OUT to Rachel, Jessica, Nathan, Tyler, Laura, and all the other current students that we know and love, who are living this nightmare in real life!!! Props to you.

Also, a shout-out to my dad who still has academic nightmares (much like this one) on a regular basis!

Enough cutesee stuff

Ok that’s it, I’m taking this McBlog back over. Time for some guy stuff!
First and most important, who will be in Utah on April 9 & 10 to go to the Man Expo with me?

Second, this cool thing came out today that turns your camera into a wireless camera. What’s that mean? Well imagine never having to find those darn cables each time you want to get pictures from your camera. Instead, take a picture then go to your computer, b/c it synced wirelessly. “WOW that’s AWESOME!” you say. “Yes it is” I say back. Isn’t it expensive!? Well normally you’d think this would recuire a new camera, or fancy stuff. Well a company has shoved all the necessary hardward into an SD card. Eye.fi. If you have a sony camera, you’re out of luck b/c they have a proprietary card design… BUT this is SWEET! You should definitely get this on your birthday list. Check the cheesy mom explanation video.

Third, there has been a huge explosion of Android announcements. If you’ve been cruising along happily with your old cell phone, you might not have noticed that the future is here and it’s called Android. All major carriers have at least two phones running this operating system.. when’s the last time that happened? (That tells you how tech shattering this is) Sprint, my carrier of choice as of this writing, will have 5 Android phones available by the end of April. AND Sprint also announced WiMax (4G) coverage is coming in SLC. So that’s cool.

OK, I think that’s enough geek to cover us for a bit. What do you think?
(What’s Iron Man there for? Well, he’s a really cool man, and he is techie)
