HAPPY BIRFDAY JOY!! Today the amazing Joy McCulloch ages gracefully to the year of 23. Congrats to her for making it this far with out an ulcer. Today for her birthday she did not receive a Nintendo Wii, which have been said to be so much fun fans are getting out of control and find the remote controls flying out of their hands. I mention this b/c when Joy heard these new systems had motion controlled sensors, she said, “Sounds like I would even have fun playing that”. With that I present to you this birthday video, this is how I see my wife/mom/sister inlaws playing video games.
The Big Change
As I have mentioned before, I have wanted to try getting some highlights in my hair for the first time. I have been looking at my hair and deciding that it’s been getting too dark for my liking, so I decided to go for it. “How bad could it turn out?” is what Rachel said the night before when I was expressing my reluctance. I wanted to do it, though. I am cheap so I just went to a local beauty school where the coloring is $20. It ended up taking 3 hours, and Rachel was entertaining Chase there the whole time and wondering when it would end. The girl who did my hair was so excited, saying I would love it!!! Yay! But when all was said and done, it didn’t look hardly any different! I think it just didn’t sit in my hair long enough to take very well. So I made an appointment to go back and have someone else do it (for free since they messed up the first time) and make it a little more noticeable, because i wanted my hair to look lighter! Rachel for some reason agreed to watch Chase again, so I went. It ended up taking almost 4 hours this second time, yes just for highlights, not even a haircut with it. I was so out of it at the end and I vowed never to do it at a beauty school again. They just take too long! I mean, I’ll still get my hair cut at those places, just because I’m not picky about what my haircut is like, but not color! So anyway, the result is that my hair is indeed lighter, but I don’t think I’m a huge fan of what it looks like on me. I think they did it too chunky and I can’t decide if I look like a wannabe blonde or white trash. But it’s not THAT bad…. Just in time for my birthday!
Surprise from UPS
Yesterday I was talking with my mom, TMom, about how sometime I want to get a big, heavy duty paper trimmer to replace the tiny, dinky one that I currently have. The big ones are obviously bigger so they’re easier to use with scrapbook paper, cards and anything else, and you can cut many papers at once. Then today I received a surprise in the mail as an early birthday present. Yep, you guessed it, a brand new paper cutter from the parents! I was very shocked and excited. I called Mom and she said she had just ordered it last night! Wow. Thanks, parents! And happy birthday to me! And the moral of the story is, if you ever want anything, casually mention it to TMom and it may magically arrive at your home the next day!
Happy Birthday to You!
Happy BIRTHDAY Grandma T

Brrrrr Cold
Well, it’s winter time here in Utah. It snowed two days in a row and now the sun is finally out but it’s 15 degrees outside. Joy and I were going to start walking for exercise… guess that will have to wait, I don’t walk unless it’s at least 16 degrees. 🙁
Jason’s Serving Stateside
Jason Keck is off to teach about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, in Colorado.
Dear friends,
I just wanted to let you know that Jason got his mission call today. He will be going to the Colorado Springs Colorado mission on January 24th. He is happy and anxious to serve.Love, Melissa
Chase’s New CD
The Black Friday sales weren’t bad around here. I got a few things that we’ve been wanting for a while, for cheap. It was fun, but I can’t say I was as into it as most of the residents of Utah that flooded the stores at 5am if not earlier. Pace was out that early, just because he was still awake, and he said there were people lined up galore outside the stores. A few items I wanted were definitely long gone by the time Rachel, Chase and I straggled in at like 9:30 am. It seems like this would not really be the case, but it appears as though Utahans in general love STUFF!!! Stuff, stuff and more stuff. But one thing I got that I would like to recommend to parents or future parents is this cd I bought for Chase (well, for all of us, really), entitled “A Child’s Prayer.” It’s very peaceful and, as Pace described it, “boring.” But I love it because it makes me feel a little calmer while putting Chase to bed, which is an ordeal since he tends to despise sleep these days. I don’t know if this cd will really make your kids “internalize gospel messages as they fall asleep” as the ad on the Deseret Book website claims, but hey, it’s nice to listen to anyway!
In case you hadn’t heard, which most of you have except me… Nada got her braces off. I haven’t heard b/c they haven’t been by to see me since she got them off. Kind of like when your teenager gets their drivers license, you don’t see them anymore… now that Nada is so popular and attractive, she does come round no more. In other news, BYU beat Utah in the best football game I’ve seen all year. Joy was called to be the beehive adviser, and I am going to be an teaching Elders quorum. Oh and Chase is driving.
Thanksgiving was fun, we had a good time relaxing and eating food, hanging out with friends and family that were in town. We kept meaning to go see Bond after Tyler’s review.. but it just never happened. Maybe next week.
Casino Royale
For everyone who hasn’t already seen it, the new James Bond,
“Casino Royale” is simply amazing. The new actor for James Bond, Daniel Craig, is the best james bond of my lifetime at least. This 007 features the REAL james bond, no super futuristic gadgets, or items that allow James Bond to be super awesome. He just IS awesome.
The part i liked the most about the movie, is that, James Bond wasn’t having sex with every female character he came in contact with. The movie is very clean, considering past James bond movies were full of tons of violence, sex, and language. Off the top of my head i can count 6 cuss words in the entire movie. And the worst violence you saw was the occasional punching and well.. punching. And yes some shooting. (however somone gave a report that it was TOO violent. Well it wasn’t.)
This 007 was also very realistic. He didnt go out and get beaten up, then show up at a bar the next day looking fine.. he’d show up at HQ with cuts over his face, and you could tell he had been fighting. Even days afterwards, he still would have a bandage over a cut he got from a previous fight.
It also has an AMAZING beginning. The first scene shows how this James Bond became a double 0. To do so you must have two kills. And it shows how he did it. The second scene shows 007 chase down this guy on foot, and they do some amazing “urban gymnastics”
In any case, this movie is a must see, ten out of five stars. I saw it last night, and im ready to go see it again. Its definately worth it.
No more semi weekly LOST
I miss the semi weekly lost article by Tyler. He isn’t writing anymore b/c LOST isn’t new until Feb. Tyler maybe you can start the weekly Daybreak… did anyone watch Daybreak that was on in the place of LOST? I have to admint I had low expectations, but I found myself riveted (besides changing diapers) to the couch as I watched. If they made a movie out of it, I would watch it. The idea is pretty much Groundhogs Day, but a murder mystery/action genre. I like it alot. Anyone else see it? What do you think? Any other good pilot shows out there?
