So it’s Friday, and I just finished a game of Warcraft during lunch at work. I’m here in a large software corp, where every employee has at least one computer and a network connection. I have to say, it truely is a great feeling when you play video games with other guys. It was my second time playing this map called Dota Allstars, I did really well for the extreme learning curve. I have to say it’s almost as good as winning a sports event. Guys you don’t even know coming up and saying “Good move”, “Nice job”, “There’s no mercy for you next time… not that you need it”, it just make Fridays really good. Also, I played Battlefield 2 with Gino on Wed night, after that I feel much more connected with Gino, and I think I’ll be his favorite brother in law for a while. What do you think? Are video games the ultimate bonding experience?

Free Root Beer w/ Float
Tyler I hope you are reading the blog today, because tonight is one of those weirdo free night things. This time at your local Sonic fast food store. From 8pm till midnight they are handing out free root beer floats. Don’t know if there is a limit or if you could bring the tv and dvd player and have em fill you up throughout a movie. Anyway gather your kin folk and we’ll see you at Sonic tonight!
Already!?!
Yes, it is already time to register for the 2007 McNFL league. Believe it or not glorious football returns in just three short months and I am determined to have a more exciting season this year! Last year was the rookie experience (i hope you enjoyed) for many of you and with this new season hopefully previous mistakes will be avoided and successful strategies will be copied. I invite everyone who participated last year and anyone who may wish to toss their hat into the fray join up and try to beat out the rest for a shot to become our 2007 McNFL Champion!
Last years inaugural winner was Tiffany Keck, so if you see her on your schedule this season make sure to be prepared for what could be the fight of your life. I hope to see her in a rematch myself as well as some new competition. Good luck everyone and enjoy!

Monday Excitement
We have Momma T, Jessica, and Gino coming into town today. We are very excited to have them around. Joy was up late last night re-cleaning everything we cleaned Sat. and making a list of how we will spend the next week. I’m excited for the jello wrestling, and chocolate cake fight. Then later this month McGrandmami and Tyler are coming to visit… we’re trying to convince McGrandaddy to come too… this morning I said to Chase, Grandma is coming today, and he looked towards the door and made his I’m waiting face, waiting for someone to come right then. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Also, the other day I was checking the logs of who visits our site, to make sure no weirdos are reading up on us, and also making sure Google isn’t finding us. In the process I see who is visiting and not making comments. One such discovery is a couple (Jeff & Rachelle) that Joy knows, who I think I’ve only meet one time… she linked to our site from her Blog with the link titled: ‘Chase and Joy’. I don’t know what to think!? Either she really didn’t like me, or she thinks Chase is a better match for Joy than I am… 🙁
I have a new calling a church, I’m teaching the 12 + 13 year old Sunday School. I’m really excited b/c they talk a lot more than the elders quorum. To go along with this new calling, I’m going to post every Sunday the lesson. This will allow my class to look up the parts they weren’t paying attention to, and helps me figure out what I’m going to say. Also, it allows you to get a lil gospel during your internet surfing. Feel free to comment, or cry, or correct (with references). Enjoy:
Today we are talking about Peer Pressure and the positive and negative influences. Also, if anyone asks you why you go to church, this lesson applies to part of the answer. First, grab a pen and paper. Number 1 -10. List as many things that influence your life, with number one being the biggest influence, and ten being the weakest influence. Ok so what do we have on our lists? Parents, television, teachers, internet, movies, Gap, friends… Look at your list for a minute, put a lil plus sign by the people or things who care about your life. Now put a minus sign by the people or things that care about themselves more than you.
I’m not a fisherman, but I’ve heard this multiple times. Put one crab in a bucket and it will climb out with no problems. Put a couple of crabs in a bucket and they will all be there for good. The reason being that when one crab starts to make it higher than the others, the crabs on the bottom get angry and pull the higher crab back down. The crabs continue this cycle, making sure one crab never rises above the group.
In addition, Elder Robert D Hales tells a story his uncle relayed to him, “Mother and Father coyote would send their coyote pups to play near a flock of sheep. The little lambs would see the pups having a good time and wander off to play with the harmless coyote pups. Then the adult coyotes come down and kill them”
What type of friends are you choosing to be with?
What is a friend? “Friends are people who make it easier to live the gospel of Jesus Christ”, “A friend in the true sense is not a person who passively nods approval of our conduct or ignores improper behavior. A friend is a person who cares.” Go back to your list, which of your friends could be crabs or coyotes? Are you being one?
If you have crabs or coyotes around you, what can you do about it? Find new friends. Surround yourself with people who uplift and give respect. Mosiah 18:7-10 has a list of qualities you might want to look for in the people you hangout with.
I know from personal experience that who we let influence us can change our lives. I testify that Jesus Christ should be the person in the number one position on our lists. If we can get him there, we will find happiness and peace in life.
You’ve been waiting

National Doughnut Day
Krispy Kreme is celebrating National Doughnut Day on Friday, June 1 by offering customers a free doughnut of their choice in participating stores throughout the U.S. Notice that the free doughnut is any kind you want, not just a free glazed.
Why don’t we get this day off?
!! NOT CONFIRMED YET (don’t get made at me if it’s not true) – 8:40am MTN !!
iTunes 7.2 and DRM free
So iTunes 7.2 is now available for download. It offers three new options apparent on the store homescreen. iTunes U, iTunes Plus, and Complete My Album… lets click on each one…iTunes U, hmm ok not what I was expecting.. it’s classes sold over iTunes (Is that Mom T rejoicing?) check out more info on Apple’s site. iTunes Plus is the DRM free central station. They also claim it’s “our highest quality”.. wait, they weren’t already selling us their highest quality!? If you click on anything on this screen you have to click that you love iTuens plus and you will be loyal to that, (you can change this setting in pref after). Afterwards you can browse the DRM free music if iTunes responds… there is also an option to “upgrade my library” this will convert all your purchased music and videos to DRM free copies, for a price! The 6 songs in my library that I haven’t converted myself yet, would cost me $1.80.. Cotton, what’s yours say? (he has over 3 gigs of purchased music). Complete My Album is a marketing tactic to get you to buy the rest of the album you didn’t want when you purchased the singular song in the first place. They discount the rest of the album for “a limited time” in case you want all the crappy songs left over.
So all in all, if you are hitting the limit of your shared music, or burnt cd’s then you better jump on board with this DRM free stuff, if they are selling the DRM free version of your song that is… Also, I thought the point of DRM free music was to cut some costs of distribution… why do we have to pay 30 cents more to upgrade a song.. taking the price of one song to 1.29. Shouldn’t they be giving us 30 cents to convert… what do you think? Is it worth the money to have your songs converted? Will you start taking classes at iTunes U?
Happy Memorial Day
We had a busy day today. Started early with Chase as usual, then we went over to the coolest park I’ve seen. It had two fountains with water you could play in and one of those big swinging towers, like the swinging chairs at state fairs. So Chase had a blast playing in the water and working on his tan (video coming soon) Then we looked at tvs with Cotton and then dropped off Darin and Nada and went to pick up Rachel who is now back in UT after her traveling to South America and the dangerous edge of North America. On the way back from the airport we stopped in at Ikea, the new, and ginormous furniture/stuff store. I really liked it, 90% of their stuff was priced the way you’d think furniture should cost, not how it costs really. Like 99 bucks for a six drawer dresser. We had a great day, hope you did too. What’d ya’ll do?
Update on Our Lives
Well, this is what is going on with us, since we haven’t really covered this topic lately on our blog. Things are going pretty smoothly lately. We are excited that it feels like summertime! We’ve been doing some projects around the house, such as working on sanding our deck to remove all the peeling paint. It’s been tedious, but we’ve appreciated the helpers we’ve had over! Pace sealed the left side of the deck day before yesterday, and it looks pretty nice.
We bought season passes to Seven Peaks Waterpark (Rachel, Pace, Chase, and I) which will open this weekend. Yes, Pace will still be working full time in the summer, but the park stays open well into the evening, so sometimes we’ll meet there after he gets off work. It will be a lot of fun, especially because it has several kid-friendly areas for Chase and his little neighbor friends to play in.
Along with doing some websites on the side, Pace is currently working for a small company out of Novell. He enjoys it okay, and they seem to appreciate his sense of humor, too! I have taken on the job of customer service (answering phone calls and emails) for Pace and Jason’s website LDSstock.com. The website has been a very successful e-commerce endeavor of theirs. We get several orders a day, and I have been busier with it than I ever could have hoped ;).
I also enjoy spending a lot of time with a couple of our neighbors (Trena and Becky), and Chase loves playing with their kids more than anything, so that’s a plus. We have planned a few exciting camping trips with them this summer! Now all we need is a couple sleeping bags…
More exciting events are that Rachel will be returning to Utah this weekend, TMom and Jess will be visiting at the beginning of June and helping with the garden (yay!), then McMom arrives at the end of June, after which Tyler will join her here in July!
As for Chase, he has officially said good-bye to crawling. He loves walking and running and bumping his head about 15 times a day. He has been saying some new words, including “apple (pronounced “ap-pow”). He requests apples regularly, I think just because he’s excited that I know what he’s saying for once. He is a pretty happy kid as long as we play outside and with his friends for several hours a day. He still gets up in the night sometimes, but nothing like he used to, so that’s fine! He’s a good boy and we’re glad he’s so entertaining to have around!
So that’s the summary of our current events– thanks for reading!
