Return of McBalderdash

PEOPLE: Adolph Levitt (he’s VERY important!)

Balderdash rules (for those who’ve never played): “The main objective is to make up answers that will bluff or entertain other players, as well as for choosing the real and often unbelievable answer getting the most made up points. ONE answer per person. Save discussions for the scoring post.

* WORDS- What is the definition? and use it in a sentence
* PEOPLE – What is the person known for?
* INITIALS- What do they stand for?
* MOVIES- What is this movie about?
* DATES- What happened on this day?”

Predictions

If you will recall this map from the swan station from season 2 of LOST… you will note the flame is on there. The next station heading north will be the staff, with medical supplies? and people? Just thought if you were interested you’d like to see this map again.

And have you seen the scrambled message at the bottom of Hanso Foundation? I predict it’s the start of the summer LOST extravaganza, which some of you might have missed last summer.

PS I also read a thread about the whole island being a project controlled by the axis.. as in the axis and allies.. WWII and cold war, and the Chinese man was referencing the hostiles; as in the Allies found the project… which is a good reason to blow it up. So are our Other friends no more than a generation lost in time?

Gino’s Dream

Gino’s Dream came true, (thanks for posting about this) USPS is replacing some of their mailboxes with R2D2 look a likes. NO not, to pull more people from UPS, no not to cause a crime spree of mailbox theft, but to celebrate the 30th anniversary (my dad admitted to seeing these in the theater.. that means he is how old?..) of STAR WARS. LOST worth talking about

Finally an episode worth talking about! What great stuff!! So we learned quite a bit last night… or at least I think we did. Isn’t that great about LOST? So the guy with the eye patch was lying but we don’t know about how much. I think the Others have been there longer than DHARMA, (maybe tied to the age prolonging project?) but they are from the same company’s experimenting. Ironically the station that was rigged to blow itself up is called the flame. As well as being the flame on the hill that shines to the rest of the world… too bad the Locke communicates as well as a male; otherwise he would’ve known there was a ton of C4 under the building and wouldn’t have done anything until after they read all the DHARMA binders in the basement.

What did ya’ll think? Did you learn anything?

Science proves I’m not lazy

A recent study from the Neilsen group proves that I am not a heavy gamer… not even close actually.

Among the study’s other findings were that two-thirds of all men aged 18-34 have access to a video game console in their homes, and that in any given minute of the day, about 1.6 million people in the United States are using a video game console. The top 20 percent of heavy-usage gamers, meanwhile, average a whopping 5 hours and 45 minutes of usage per day, according to the report.

See honey, my two three four hours a week is such a small amount! 🙂 The study also reports that the number of game consoles is increasing in the US, and that a new breed has been born which they call, “The Gamer Family”. I think that’s good, why let your kid play for hours alone…?.. join em! Would you play video games with your kids or just let em play by themselves?

Stranger Than Fiction — Movie Review

Wow! TWO BIG THUMBS UP on this one! I loved it. If you are looking for a good movie, grab this one and go into it blind. I had little idea what this movie was about when we started watching it, and I was so so pleased with the outcome. Don’t get your hopes up, this isn’t the next star wars or anything, they actaully didn’t mix a single sound effect into the rear audio track, BUT even with that poor decision, this movie still entertained me more than the last FOUR movies we’ve watched. The only tihng I wish to have seen on the DVD was an alternate ending option

Did you guys see this one? what did you think?

To megapixel or not?

“Recent announcements from major camera makers have offered a parade of a slim, pocket-friendly models with resolution of 9, 10, even an unholy 12 megapixels. Thats about the same, if not more pixels, than the average SLR digicam.

Now if you believe the teeny little pink thing in your purse is going to capture images of anywhere near comparable quality to even a low-end SLR, I’ve got a war of national liberation you might wanna buy.

That’s because cramming all those pixels into a slim case means shrinking the image sensor. That means shrinking the individual pixels/photo sites and/or the spaces between them. The result is noise, which become more and more obvious the closer you come to viewing photos at actual size.

Our recommendation: Don’t buy a point-and-shoot without visit a camera weenie site such as DP Review, where you’ll find comprehensive camera specs that include the size of the image sensor. Anything with a denominator (the number under the “1/” for you high school math dropouts) larger than 1.8 inches means you’ll likely be sacrificing quality for portability and pixels you don’t actually need, unless you happen to be in the billboard business.”

Do you agree? What megapixel camera do you have? Do you think there is a point of diminishing returns?

Very interesting.. or annoying

I sent an email to a guy yesterday, and today I get this email:

In an effort to eliminate junk email, I am using ZoneAlarm Security Suite.
ZoneAlarm Security Suite has placed your message on hold.

Please click the button below so you will be added to my Allowed people list, I will receive your email, and we will be able to communicate freely going forward.

Do not reply to this message.

How much junk mail would drive you to use a program that turns instant communication into 48 hour delivery service!? How sad. SO I had to click on the link in the email… which took me to a page that said, now your email will be sent.
If any reader of this blog uses such services, I frown on you. And say if you get THAT much junk mail, maybe it’s time to stop putting your real email on all the “win a free ______” sites you’re going to! Now what really peeves me off is the price! You pay 50 bones to have your email become snail mail… stupid
