Hey Utahns, we need to get on this! Google just announced that they will be experimenting with being an ISP. What’s an ISP? They are the people you pay to get on the internet. Currently in our area, we only have one worth talking about, Comcast, everyone else doesn’t offer a speed fast enough to watch youtube. So if you live in Utah, here’s what I need you to do. Get your creative juices flowing and go here, click nominate your community, fill out the form. We need to tell Google we want them to bring their fiber network to Utah.

Google does social
OH SNAPS! Lookout facebook, google is adding some sweet functions that might make it so I never visit your site again. Check it out:
“We’re rolling out Buzz to all Gmail accounts over the next few days, so if you don’t see it in your account yet, check back soon. We also plan to make Google Buzz available to businesses and schools using Google Apps, with added features for sharing within organizations.”
If any reader of McBlog pays for an iPad, I will consider myself a failure. PLEASE DO NOT BUY AN IPAD! In case you had a house full of kids to distract you today, Apple announced a giant iPod touch, called the iPad. Pricing starts at $499 for the 16GB version… WHAT!? and is also available in 32 and 64 GB versions. Ok so if you were about to buy an ipod touch or about to throw 500 bucks into the fireplace, then go ahead and buy an iPad.
You shouldn’t buy the iPad for a HUGE number of reasons, but here are a few: no features, no amazing hardware, no expandable memory, no camera, no background apps; your cell phone is probably better equipped. Ok I’m just too annoyed to discuss the details of this thing. Here’s where I end, things you could buy besides an iPad, and still spend about the same:
Apple, you have fallen far from making an awesome product. Your greed in marketing a sleek piece of crap that could have been built last year enrages me! I hope you die a slow painful AT&T network speed death in your mobile sector.
Make your desktop more real
If you always wanted your computer desktop to be more like your real life desk top, then crap your pants with joy! Bumptop is here to help you with just that. Now you can lose stuff on your computer desktop just as easy as real life. Meh, I don’t think it’s really practical, but it’s kinda cool. Check it out, and if you install it, I expect a full report in the comments!

Help our store out
Hey, want to help out the store Joy and I own, but you don’t want to buy anything.. that’s understandable. We’ll take a link instead!
Use one of the links below to link to us from your website:
<a href="http://www.ldsstock.com/ctr-rings/" title="My favorite place for CTR rings">CTR Rings</a>
<a href="http://www.ldsstock.com/lds-artwork/" title="Awesome LDS artwork, at an amazing price!">LDS Artwork</a>
Respectively this generates a link like this: CTR Rings or this: LDS Artwork
Ok, but why? Well, while we would love you to buy stuff, truth is, we wouldn’t charge you very much b/c you are our friends, and we’d have to pay taxes, bleh! If you put a link like this on your website that has the text “CTR Rings” or “LDS Artwork” and then google sees that, google says hey, LDSstock.com must be a good place for CTR rings and LDS Art. Then it moves LDSstock.com up the search result list when people search for those words. Helping us move up the search list is the best gift you could give us.
Oh I saw your site listed when I searched for CTR rings, so I clicked on it a bunch of times! Isn’t that great!?
No. No it’s not. One of two things happened, either you clicked on my ad a bunch of times, costing me money. Or you clicked our site a bunch of times and then didn’t go to another page, so google thinks you didn’t like the site. Either way, you didn’t help me.
So if you were wondering lately what you could do to help us out.. I’ve just answered your question! If you are really feeling generous you’d tell you friends about LDSstock.com, or even write a whole blog post about how awesome CTR rings and LDS artwork from LDSstock.com are.
Just FYI, THANKS!
UPDATE:
As requested I made some image links, respectively:
Let me know if you want a different size for your sidebar/content, I’d be happy to whip one up.
And here is the code to use one of these:
<a href="http://www.ldsstock.com" title="CTR rings, LDS art, and other LDS products at 10% or more off retail"><img src="http://www.ldsstock.com/badges/ldsstock125.png" alt="LDSstock.com" height="125" width="125" style="border:2px solid #3C4A64;" /></a>
<a href="http://www.ldsstock.com" title="CTR rings, LDS art, and other LDS products at 10% or more off retail"><img src="http://www.ldsstock.com/badges/ldsstock250.png" alt="LDSstock.com" height="110" width="250" style="border:2px solid #3C4A64;" /></a>

Chrome for Mac (BETA)
So Chrome has been out a while now for PC and yeah it’s pretty snappy, I admit it’s as fast as Firefox, and on some pages faster, but it has no extensions. Well the Mac version was released yesterday, and Holy Hold on to your mouse Batman is it fast! This Beta version zips through pages that are properly coded, and SMOKES any google app (gmail, cal, docs, picasa, etc). Now I’m not going to jump ship from FireFox to Chrome, mainly b/c I’m building stuff and FF has SO many tools to help with that, BUT if I were just a run of the mill internet user, I’d be all over Chrome. So if you are looking for the fastest browser on the Mac, go grab Chrome for Mac. If you are still looking for the most polished and useful, and still pretty fast browser, grab Firefox.
UPDATE: Ok the BETA seems to not be a marketing ploy, but really serious. There are a couple or quirks with this right now, most of you might want to wait for the stable release and the GUI has some things to get used to, like the magical status bar at the bottom that shows up only for certain actions, and the lack of any settings or bookmark menus.
Another reason Android phones ROCK
Android phones are AWESOME. If you haven’t heard, Joy and I jumped onto Sprint, mainly b.c they were the most affordable way to get smartphones. We are both sporting Samsung Moments running Android 1.5. Hopefully they will update us soon to Android 2.0 so we can get even more cool features, but alas, we have to wait for some good things. One of those is Google Goggles that just came out today, and wow, it’s sweet! Check it out, and discuss:
I’m gonna have to try this
SO I found this video when YouTube told me people in my contact book uploaded videos. The Hanks use this thing apparently and say it works! Who wants to go halves with me?
