New Video

A new video on the day Chase entered mortality is available to view, it captures moments of the past weekend as Chase was delivered and brought home. There are two versions, a broadband .WMV at 40MB and a dialup .MOV version at 2MB. Enjoy and if you’re scared of the medical lingo in the audio, then turn off your speakers.

Otherwise, Joy is healing and doing well, and Chase is doing great. He had his first poop since he’s been home. We are proud. We’ve had lots of visitors and wanted to thank everyone who has taken time to hold him for us. Thank you!

Love ya’ll

UPDATE: It was just too cute today when Chase said hello, here it is for all ya’ll to enjoy. This one is 10MB .MPG so will play in either windows media player or quicktime (Just for you McGrandpa)

Chase James McCulloch

Wow, thanks Ty! That is awesome, I’m gone for a day in the hospital and my lil bro covers everything perfectly. Man I have great bros. Yes Tyler is right, he was born in under four hours (arrived at hospital around 7:15AM and Chase was born at 10:42 AM), 7 pounds five ounces, 19 plus inches, and healthier than a McCulloch. We are SO proud and very excited, we are very open to visitors if you are in the area, but we hope to be discharged by noon tom (Sat). I’m just writing this real fast while home on a pit stop before I go back for the night. Also there are some pictures posted for those not in the area at our McPhotos page b/c that’s what I had setup and I don’t want to take the time to make it look great. There is also short video of Chase blinking and stuff (no time to make it streaming so you’ll download it and it will play with quicktime or windows media player, 6.0MB). Enjoy, love you all.

UPDATE! We are back home now, and are getting settled in. Joy has dressed Chase in cute baby clothes that we recieved as gifts and trying to nap. If you would like to stop by give Joy a call to see if it’s a good time. Pace is going to upload more pictures and video soon, stay tuned long distance Chase fans! Love ya’ll

Where have my fingertips gone?

An interesting thing has happened to me recently, in addition to the regular symptoms of the end of pregnancy. My fingers seem to be a little swollen, but in addition to this common phenomenon, the tips of my middle finger and ring finger of my right hand have become numb. I think that’s weird, but I remember TMom telling me that sometimes during pregnancy her entire hands were numb. It amazes me what happens to the human body when pregnant. But I’m due within a week now, so I’m hoping that some of these weird things will disappear along with the upcoming birth of the child.

PS – The doctor said today that I’m dilated to 3 cm, and the baby could come in the next three days! Wooo Hoooo!

Cash from your ashtray!

Coinstar machines — popular in grocery stores, drug stores and other retail locations — let you turn your loose change into paper currency. You dump in your change, the machine counts it up and typically feeds you a paper receipt which you can redeem for cash at a nearby cashier or register. Coinstar’s machines impose an 8.9 percent processing fee for their Coin to Cash program, but the Coin to Card program exacts no such fee — so you get the full value of your loose change. The machine will either spit out a gift card or a paper “eCertificate” instead. The eCertificate can then be used to buy products online. In addition to iTunes Music Store, Coinstar has redemption programs established with Virgin Digital, Borders, Hollywood Video, Amazon.com and other mass-market retailers. Find a location near you: Click Me
I usually drag my quarters in to these machines once I have around 60-70 dollars worth of change to cash in that way its worth the 10-15 dollar charge since I am lazy and don’t want to actually count/roll these pennies. Now we don’t have to give them anything to recieve our loose change in gift certificates at iTunes and amazon……..BRILLIANT!!!!!!

Experiments on ABC viewers

Yesterday, the tv giant ABC announced they will experiment during the month of May, not on animals but on us. ABC will be streaming full length versions of LOST, Desperate Housewives, Commander in Cheif, and Alias. While I know that two of those shows aren’t worth mentioning, I am personally excited that I can catch LOST the day after for FREE, b/c usually on Thursdays I say, “oh it’s Thursday, Survivor is on, and I missed that show LOST, guess I’ll never be cool.” Three of those shows are currently sold on iTunes, so if that’s usually how you watch, DON’T PAY. The diff is, the $2.00 iTunes version is commercial free, while the free ABC.com version will have unskippable commercials. Read up the official press release if you don’t believe me.

Hello Orem!

Just in case anyone missed our little side comment a few postings ago, we are staying in Utah and NOT moving to Vegas. We are kind of glad about that, because the cost of living in Vegas is much higher than here.  Pace is going to work for Bizsight in Orem, which is a multimedia marketing/web development type of company.   He actually has already been working for them doing web design, and he loves it, so that’s good.   We are anticipating getting a house in Orem within the next few months, after we’ve at least somewhat adjusted to having Chase around!

Memories

One of the things we will take with us when we die is memories. I wanted to share a couple of memories with ya’ll before anyone continues to that point. First comes from back home in NC from my teenage years. Since I was about twelve years old I’ve lived in a house in NC. When we moved in, the boys got the cool option of having cork board installed on an entire wall in their bedrooms. Shortly after, Cotton filled his with posters, art, and other such things. I on the other hand had a few posters of my idols, the teenage mutant ninja turtles, and the rest of the cork board was filled with targets. Targets of all shapes and sizes, bad guy silhouettes, bright round orange circles, pictures of highschool teachers… anything really. I had been given a low powered dart gun that shot BBs, pellets, and darts. It was great, plus it wasn’t powerful enough to go through the cork board. Well as I matured and became more interested in different weapons, and I have no idea why I was allowed to, but I ended up with some ninja throwing stars. Some with long tips and very sharp, others just sharp enough to stick into drywall. Well I threw those at the targets almost everyday, ignoring the idea that they were going through the corkboard into the drywall. In addition, I set a BB trap box (thank Boy Scouts) at the base of the wall. I had lots of fun. Last week, Mom and Dad took all the cork board off the walls. I quote Dad’s email: “Attempting to fix the holy wall today… biggest hole seemed to be at the bottom near the baseboard… upon closer inspection… I discovered remnants of perhaps, a Civil War battle?
Ya’ll may want to save these for future reference as your own children might inherit your destructive tendencies.
Or so I hope. -dad”

Memories

Unfortunately there isn’t a picture of the second story. Yesterday I was helping McGowan move into his new house. I was driving a pick up truck with a couch, box spring, and a king sized mattress. Heading north on University Ave, we hit about 40 mph, and a big gust of wind came, lifting the KING sized mattress off the bed of the truck snapping the twine and spining it into the middle of the lane. I quickly stopped, backed up and McGowan and I threw it back on top while a crowd of cars watched on. Later on in the day we had a good laugh about how high it flew. That is a good memory.

Great Birthday

I wanted to thank eveyone who remembered my birthday. Many of you helped to make it my “special day”. Thanks to those of you who called (even if I didn’t answer) and emailed, and came over. Here is a funny video to thank all of you. It answers why people always have “dropped calls”. Love ya’ll
Thanks to Cotton for the video (anyone know a nice and easy way to embed?)
P.S. Brad and Tiffany are having a baby!
P.P.S. We are staying in Utah!

To Pre-wash, or Not to Pre-wash?

I have a question to raise here: When you, personally, buy new clothes, do you wash them before you wear them? As for me, I usually like to wash new clothes if I’m already doing the laundry anyway, but if I’m excited to wear the new item and it’s not laundry day, then I go ahead and wear it. It seems like it’s not a bad idea to pre-wash, though. Just think about it… Someone with bad B.O. might have tried on that shirt just before you bought it, and if your nose is congested due to a bad cold that day, you will be unaware of your personal stench. In other words, if you haven’t pre-washed it, you’ll stink– You’ll stink bad. And people will refer to you as The Stinker. I chose to wash our new baby clothes, my reasoning being that then the baby will smell fresh and feel soft. However, Pace felt that new clothes are clean enough, so why wash them? I don’t want people to take sides here, because Pace and I are best friends, but just to say what you tend to do.
