Hey guys what are you up to today?
Month: July 2007
Deal Alert
Ever see The Mummy, or The Mummy Returns or the Scorpion King (I never saw that one)? Ever think to yourself, that was a decent movie, I’d like to buy it someday if I see it for cheap. Well over at Best Buy Online they have the 3 disc set for 8.99, with free instore pickup. Grab a copy if you’re interested, or grab me a copy if your not.
Google for President
As soon as I think Google is the coolest thing around, I find out something else they offer for free and I think, Google RULES! So I had heard of Picasa and I know that Brad and Tiffany use it to upload their photos. Well I had 42 images i wanted to add to our system. The thing is I have to crop and resize each one so they don’t take up a ton of space on our server… anyway this lead me to think how bout I try out Picasa. Anyway 90 seconds later, I’m watching this sweet application (that seems to do everything the application I paid for) scan my hard drive and grab photos from everywhere. Then 40 seconds after that they were uploaded to Google’s server… so now I’m torn… ever though I only get a gig on Picasa… it was SO easy… what do you guys think? Picasa(view the album) or McPhotos? why?
Oh and lets try this…
OH, looks like it doesn’t work.. j/k wait for it, that’s pretty cool… I could prob do something with that…
Safari users beware!
Oops, researchers just unveiled a pretty serious security vulnerability in the iPhone. More specifically, it’s Apple’s Safari web browser which exhibits the vulnerability. Researchers at Independent Security Evaluators have used the vulnerability to take malicious control of the iPhone from rogue websites loaded with the exploit. Once in, researchers have full administrative access over the phone allowing them to listen in on room audio or snatch the SMS log, address book, call history, email passwords and more — we’re talking full access to your phone. Researchers note that the only way to stay safe is to check those URLs and only visit sites that you trust (which isn’t very reassuring) and “may or may not be exploitable” from Mac and PC versions of Safari
Goals
Lots of times we hear of goals like, I want to lose 30 pounds, I want to get a new computer, I want to get a degree… these are all great and wonderful, but have you ever made a set of goals that will develop over a lifetime? Such as I want to show patience to everyone around me, I don’t want to think a bad thought about anyone, even someone who insults me. These types of goals are much more rewarding when they are achieved, and they help us to lead happier lives. I challenge you to make a list of your goals, your behavior goals. Here’s mine:
- I will be a friend to the friendless and find joy in ministering to the needs of the poor.
- I will visit the sick and afflicted and inspire in them a desire for faith to be healed.
- I will teach the truth to the understanding and blessing of all mankind.
- I will seek out the erring one and try to win him back to a righteous and a happy life.
- I will not seek to force people to live up to my ideals but rather love them into doing the thing that is right.
- I will live with the masses and help to solve their problems that their earth life may be happy.
- I will avoid the publicity of high positions and discourage the flattery of thoughtless friends.
- I will not knowingly wound the feeling of any, not even one who may have wronged me, but will seek to do him good and make him my friend.
- I will overcome the tendency to selfishness and jealousy and rejoice in the successes of all the children of my Heavenly Father.
- I will not be an enemy to any living soul.
- Knowing that the Redeemer of mankind has offered to the world the only plan that will fully develop us and make us really happy here and hereafter I feel it not only a duty but a blessed privilege to disseminate this truth.
Random Update
Pace organized the garage this morning. He is the MAN! It wasn’t too bad before, but it looks super great now! I also reorganized the freezer so we can actually find everything now. In addition to all this cleanliness, our cars are shiny clean as well because I had the myriad of Beehives over for a car wash service project –which definitely included washing our two cars! Clever, I know.
Yesterday I was startled to find that we had about 4 yellowjackets in our family room downstairs, just hanging out by the window. Don’t ask me how they got in. They seem to prefer staying right by the window and they’re slowly dying off, so I haven’t really done anything to speed that up for them. They can be our temporary pets. Other than that, we never need to have any pets, ever.
Also, Chase has been hitting his head a lot lately. I try to prevent it, but usually it’s just inevitable because he is so active! To add to the mix, he is getting 4 more teeth in, to make 16 total. I think that’s why he’s been whiny lately. Or maybe he’s just lonely since Gretchen and Tyler left. But at least we have more company coming this week; TDad and TMom will be here in just a few days to close on the townhouse! So Ikea, R.C. Willey, Target, etc. — here we (they) come!
Thanks Gino
Thanks for noticing the new bling Gino, and thanks for inspiring it with that dbx code. As you can tell McBlog is styling some new touches, not too extreme so as not to tick off the faithful (oh and version 1.0 is still available if you want that one, bottom left sidebar) But some cool features about this one, the sidebars are now sexy and each item can be collapsed or moved. SO even though the default is the way I like it maybe you want the slideshow to be farther down the page… so move it there, and evertime you visit on that same computer it will show up the way you set it. Isn’t that sweet! YES it is. Alright, hope you enjoy it, I might teak a couple of things more over the next few weeks.
Date Night
Tonight Joy and I are going on a date. I’m very excited for this date b/c it’s going to be my company party at Seven Peaks. The company has rented it out for the night. We get a BBQ dinner from Wallaby’s, ride as much as we want on the slides, and they are goign to play a movie projected over the wave pool around 8pm. If we don’t have fun tonight, maybe we are dead. Also of mention, Joy’s uncle..?.. Is getting married! Yeah congrats to you two love birds, sorry we couldn’t come out to the wedding. And in other other news, Chase is getting very clingy, any ideas on how to get a 1.5 year old to not yell mommy all the time and cry when he doesn’t get what he wants? Oh and yet again I’m trying to please this odd feeling in my chest that I need to change stuff on the blog, watch for future changes and comment on them please.
So hard to say goodbye
Today we said farewell to the McClan who has been visiting for a while. It has been realy really nice to have extra hands around to help and extra people to play with. We had a really good time yesterday at Snowbird, riding on the zip line and slide and other stuff. Watch for video/pics. Hopefully everyone gets home safely, and now we are back to the normal life. Luckily we only have a week or so before The T’s come out to close on a town home. We love having family in town, almost makes us want ya’ll to move closer 🙂
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Y’ALL!
Happy birthday to Tyler and Gretchen! Tyler turns the big 16 today, and Gretchen is turning the little 29–again! 🙂 We are going out to dinner tonight after Tyler gets back from lacrosse camp, and I believe we will be consuming one of those Great American Chocolate Cakes from Costco– you know what I’m talking about– the 7-pounder! Well, hope Gretchen and Tyler have a great day!
Also, happy birthday to Ryan T. last Monday. We didn’t post it on that day, but better late than never, right?!? He is busy moving to S.F. this weekend, and he’s getting married in about 6 weeks! Yay for Ryan!
