Chase Adventures McVideos

Who took who?

Uncle Tyler took Chase to Jumping Jacks yesterday, or maybe Chase took Tyler. Anyway, they were both pretty excited about it. Tyler made this great video recapping the adventure. CAUTION: May cause dizziness and vomiting to some of our readers.

Nice job Tyler, and thanks.

Microsoft Releases Free Anti-Virus

Last week Microsoft jumped into the FREE anti-virus software war with their Security Essentials Software. According to reviews by people who know more than me, this thing is really good for FREE. Other free programs usually miss one or two of the bad guys, but Microsoft scored flawlessly. So with an investment of $0.00 we are now running this at home, and you might want to too when that free 6 months of Norton runs out on the new computer.

THE KITCHEN HAS BEEN PAINTED!!!

What a glorious time this is. The weather couldn’t be better, and the kitchen has been painted!

(And Pace promises to get crown molding up there on top by the end of October.)

WOW! We’ve been in this house for 3 years now, and the kitchen is finally not white anymore! It looks so cozy now. My favorite thing to see whenever we’re done painting is the beautiful white trim that stands out so nicely. This color (Toasted Pecan) was a somewhat spontaneous choice, but I am pleased with the results.

I wanted a light brownish color, but it had to be darker than our “amazing” (<sarcasm) cabinets. So I tried to find a shade that would match the dark grain in the cabinet wood.

Chase got to be the first one to smear some paint on the wall, and it really looked like poop or mud. 🙂 I was a tiny bit nervous about the color at that point.

We were going to have people help yesterday, but McGrandaddy came over on Friday night and helped out A TON—I am so glad he helped! Then Pace touched up a bit yesterday morning, so by the time Jessica and the McGowans came over to help, it was already done! I love the dark effect, even though sometimes it seems almost too dark for my taste, but overall it’s pretty “elegant” (the adjective I kept using as we were painting).

We celebrated yesterday with a brunch– homemade Belgian Waffles & homemade whipped cream. (And then we all felt gross & groggy after eating that.) Thanks guys, for the help (and the willingness to help). I love it!

Weekend Fun

So we thought we’d have some fun this weekend. We painted the kitchen, (thanks for all the hard work Grandaddy), went to the BYU football game, and overall enjoyed ourselves. Here’s the proof:

Flowrider

So a couple of weeks ago my work rented out the Lindon pool, which had one of these flowrider things installed. I thought I’d give it a try. Turns out it’s very difficult to stay standing up. I tweaked my neck a few times, and decided the boogie boarding side was much more my thing, as you can’t fall from 6 feet up. Enjoy

I Love This Baby

(We’re posting a lot because Uncle Gino is “making” us.) Next week, Charlotte will be 9 months old (which I can’t believe)! She still has that lovely baby scent and I can’t help but smell her sweet head all day long.

Nowadays, she has a little more hair on her head, and she’s also crawling, pulling herself up on things, and squirming around like she never has before. Entering the ACTIVE days!

Charlotte has realized that she can pull herself up on the sides of the crib, so Pace lowered it all the way yesterday. Charlotte is definitely not a newborn anymore!

It’s good that she’s so cute (we say that a lot with our kids), because during the last few nights, Pace and I have both had our first “real” moments of frustration with this angel baby. Let’s just say she has NOT been an angel all night long, or at nap times. Today was a little better with naps, though, so let’s hope it’s just temporary.

I am glad that Pace is very patient and helpful with Charlotte during these times. He likes to sing to me, “You’re gonna miss this… You’re gonna want this back…” Haha! We’ll still keep her, though.

Experimentation

DSC04038So in her quest to find new amazing McRecipes for the blog and for out lives, and as part of healthy grain month; Joy decided to try something new. Cheesy Spaghetti Squash. Doesn’t sound half bad does it? Well turns out there aren’t any noodles in it, and the cheese isn’t melted greasy cheese, and the squash well it is really squash. Joy thought I might not enjoy this dish, so she made it and anounced it very peppy like. So we started eating and I thought meh it’s not bad, it’s not good, but it’s not gross. Well Joy was the one who said, yuck we are never making this again. So I just wanted to share with you that yes, we do stand by our guarantee to test recipes before we post them here, and this one FAILED.
