Fancy Breakfast Date

We have tons to write about, but so little time lately. One thing I wanted to write about was our fun little breakfast date at Pace’s work (Novell) a week ago. Chase and I met up with Pace at 9 am and went to the dining building (I don’t want to label it a cafeteria because that sounds like it would be gross). The special of the morning was crunchy french toast with creme brulee, strawberries, and whipped cream. The french toast was crunchy because it was dipped in corn flakes– clever idea, huh? It was pretty tasty, although the creme brulee sauce wasn’t as noticeable as I had anticipated.

Chase enjoyed the occasion as well! We went to the juke box in the corner, where “The Candy Man” was playing (from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Chase danced in such a whimsical fashion that several bystanders stopped to watch the “show.” It was pretty funny. We got to wander through the beautiful Novell campus with its green lawns and the flowing stream. Chase would have preferred to swim in the stream, but that wasn’t my preference for him. A good time was had by all! Thanks for inviting us out to breakfast, Pace!

Dear Santa

Yes this is geeky, and yes this will be the number one thing on a geeks Christmas list. Lego just released the MOTORIZED AT-AT. Yes folks, it walks forward or backward into battle. Comes with grappling hook hanging Luke Skywalker! Probably the sweetest toy Chase could possibly get this year… and of course I would be willing to help him play with it put it together. We just had a great weekend, hopefully Joy will post details later. I’ll be working on the videos.

What’s on your Christmas list already?

Toddler Therapy Time

This morning, I broke the usual routine of playing outside all morning by taking Chase to “Music and Movement” time at the Springville City Library. It’s a 30 minute program for toddlers (ages 18 months to 3 years old) in which some volunteers lead the group in singing, rhymes, and dancing. It was so funny to watch Chase staring at the other kids, following their motions, running around the room, going in front of the group to try to lead them, etc. He is on the younger end of the group, seeing as how he’s not quite 18 months old yet, but he’s close enough (3 weeks away). We had fun indoors, then went out to play on the playground
and with the lifelike bronze statues of children in action (I took photos but Pace is putting Vista on our computer so everything is kind of misplaced at the moment.)

So how could I have been gone all morning when he usually naps at that time, you ask? Well, I think it’s official: He’s down to one nap now. This is fine with me; however, it’s not fine when it only lasts one hour like it did yesterday. Hopefully it’s just short because he’s in transition from 2 naps to 1, because I will not be very thrilled to have only one hour to do everything I need to for the day, including all my customer service work! I may have to quit that side job…

I invited a few of our neighbor friends to tag along for the morning, but no one else wanted to participate in the fun and games, so we just went and met new people there. I felt comfortable with everyone else, except that I wanted to videotape some parts, but I felt like the other moms would chuckle at this first-time mom videotaping her precious little angel. But I will just do it anyway next week because it was pretty entertaining. I just want our family and friends in “distant lands” to be able to see how much fun Chase can be sometimes!

Tonight is lights out night!

(KSL News) Tonight is “Lights Out Utah,” a one-hour blackout period when you’re asked to turn off the non-essential lights in your home.

Governor Huntsman and Utah Clean Energy are urging Utahns to participate from 9 to 10 p.m.

It’s an experiment to see how much energy can be saved by simple measures. Rocky Mountain Power says if 750,000 customers turned off five light bulbs for one hour, it would save enough energy to run every appliance in 1,300 homes for a week.

Huntsman says the state needs to conserve resources as it grows. Most of Utah’s energy comes from coal. Homes and businesses are being asked to participate.

The same experiment was carried out in London in June. Apparently it was not conclusive at all, so now we are doing it….

Why Apple will never win, part II

Surfing my sites today, I ran across this announcement. Telling me that I can download this plugin for Windows Media Center, and I or anyone I give access, can watch my tv, recorded tv, listen to my music, look at my pictures, schedule new tv recordings, etc. How sweet is that!? Oh and there is a Vista sidebar gadget that pulls your tv RSS feed for easy access to the recently recorded programs! So now I can catch up on my Star Trek during my lunch hour. So now not only does Apple need to bring a media controller to market, they have to make it accessible remotely off the get go. SO far behind… hey anyone want to split my cable bill? You can record and watch any tv you want! πŸ™‚ I’m gonna need a bigger hard drive for Christmas…

Baby Batmobile

Remember the cocooned batmobile from the 90’s Batman (why can’t I find a picture!?) that was so cool. Now we know where he got the idea, from his mom! Who implemented the same idea in his baby stroller…

Somehow I don’t think this video is real…

Thanks Drapers!!

We had tons of fun tonight on Utah lake, thanks to our friends the Drapers. We really, really enjoyed it. Chase has been a little sick so he was very quiet, and he didn’t like the cold water. I think the engine kind of freaked him out but he didn’t cry he just sat there very serious. Pace got up on the wake board after trying 29 times, and Dustin showed us how easy it is to ski on choppy water. We had a blast, so a big thanks to the Drapers!! Check out the full album of pictures and feel free to comment on how hot Joy is.

Apple Event

Unlike the big yawn of an event Steve had a bit ago, today’s event brought us what will changed the gadget world. A wi-fi enabled, touchscreen iPod. Very cool. It’s an iPhone without the phone, and Att contract. Oh and that cool iPhone only comes in a 8 GB model now. And it’s 400 bones instead of 600… that really stinks for those of you who recently forked out 600 for one. Anyway the iPod touch seems pretty cool. Besides the usual it has a browser! So it’s like a lil bitty computer. The iPod nano got turn into a fat pumpkin I guess it was out past midnight or something… but Gino likes it. What do you think of the new line up?

We’re dining in style now!

We are so excited about our new dining set! (See photos below, click on them to enlarge.) You see, I’ve been okay with our old table for a long time (I bought it at D.I. for $35 when we got married and Pace painted the legs black for me so it’s sentimental). But that one has been quite wobbly ever since we moved here nearly a year ago (CRAZY). It broke during our move to this house, and we have been just dealing with it ever since.

But now… this set is amazing! It is so sturdy and gorgeous. It is cherry wood with a capuccino –aka dark brown– stain. It has six chairs but only four have arrived– and it was a pain to actually get those from the guy! (Long story, but basically I don’t recommend buying furniture from this store although the owner was indeed a kindly man.) The table has butterfly leaves, so the leaves fold out from their storage in the center. It seats about 8-10 people when the butterfly leaves are out. We love it– it’s been very convenient! TMom and Rachel picked it out for us, based on some hints I had previously dropped. Thank you to the TParents who purchased it for us, basically because I was jealous of all the new furniture in the nearby townhouse that Rachel is now inhabiting. Yes, we may be labeled as spoiled. But at least we are also grateful, huh? πŸ˜‰

I also went to our new local Rodworks store (which has home decor that I LOVE– Becky introduced me to it) and I bought these frames to complement the new table. Pace helped me crop the photos and make them sepia tone. I am very happy with the effect! I don’t really like to spend money on things, but I felt somewhat justified in buying these frames because the picture that was in this spot before was a small $7 Ansel Adams photo from Walmart. πŸ™‚ Anyway, what do you think?
