Was born yesterday at 6:59pm. Her deliver was great, she came out without problems and quickly fell back asleep. I left Joy and Charlotte in the hospital last night while Chase and I crashed at our house at 10:30 (much too late for a 2.5 year old). Joy said Charlotte did wonderful, much better than Chase (prob b/c she didn’t get circumcised) Today has been chill, with lots of sleeping and eating. Joy is back to 90% already (she’s so tough) and Joy wants to come home tonight. So if you were planing on visiting the baby in the hospital b/c you like hospitals.. then you better get in the car. Here’s some media for those who can’t visit.
Month: December 2008
No, I haven’t had the baby yet. Yes, I do feel ready and anxious!
Those are some answers I’ve been repeating a lot lately! It’s certainly been a very different end of the pregnancy than it was when I was going to have Chase. I didn’t have much going on physically at the end of that pregnancy, but this one has been “eventful” to say the least! I will spare you the details of what’s been going on, but let’s just say it’s not very pleasant. I’ve had “latent labor symptoms” for nearly 3 weeks now, and it’s been crazy thinking that every day could be the big day (and then it isn’t). I also feel a little physically impaired, mainly when it comes to doing things with Chase, and even walking! But I am very grateful that I’ve still been able to go and do things, and that I don’t have to be on bed rest or anything. I know that’s a blessing!
One thing that has made me nervous is that my blood platelet count has been low throughout the pregnancy. My doctor said that the main concern with that is just whether or not they’ll give me the epidural that I love so much! I had my last blood test today to check my platelet count, and it’s still lower than normal, but it appears to be high enough for me to be able to have an epidural so I’m relieved about that!
Yes, I am quite anxious to have the baby arrive, although I know plenty of new challenges will arise (but lots of blessings, too). I am going to be induced tomorrow (5 days before my due date), due to insurance reasons rather than the reasons mentioned above! And if you’re wary of the whole induction thing like I initially was, my doctor said that it often causes complications when it’s your first baby, but any after that are no problem. I hope that’s true, because that’s what I’m doing this time! We will keep you posted.
Merry Chistmas
Chase-isms
Kids say the darndest things, and sometimes I actually remember to jot down a few things that Chase has said that make me smile. Here are the ones I wrote down last month:
– “My mommy was tough at the doctor’s office.”
– “Sometimes I’m shy.”
– “Want to hear the funny song I made up?”
– (very sternly) “No, I’M in charge.”
– (running to the toilet all by himself, with one arm raised up in the air): “Because I’m SuperChase to the rescue!!!”
– “Check THIS out!” (and then he does some sort of stunt)
– (in a strained voice) “My body hurts from exercising. But exercising is great for me to do.”
– “Someone went poop on Daddy’s shovel.” (Pace’s shovel was caked with mud)
– (sniffed me) “You smell like FLOWER TREATS!”
– “Settle down. Take a chill pill.” (he’s heard that from Daddy once or twice)
– (I touched underneath his chin) “That’s my injury apple. Please don’t poke it.”
I’m so Prego
And so can you. I’m having a great time being big. I think big women have an advantage in life, they have so much gravitational pull… anyway just thought I’d update you on how things are going and I wanted to test posting video so easy Joy can do it, YES THIS IS PACE! I’m using Joy’s Live Writer to see how she could do videos.
Just Relax, Honey.
At this point in Chase’s life, Pace and I have never been more frustrated, nor more “charmed” by him. His strong personality and sense of humor keep us on our toes; sometimes we laugh and lots of other times Chase is sitting on time out for his little attitude. Here’s a funny example showcasing Chase’s personality, “this just in” from this morning.
Scenario: Chase and I were sitting at the little black table in his room, coloring (which lasted about 3 minutes as usual). He got out the white crayon and started scribbling on the black table, so I told him not to do that because we color on paper and not on the furniture. He said it’s the only way the white crayon will work. I told him again not to color on there, and he just shook his head and said softly, “Just relax, honey.”
Oh my. Who IS this kid!?!? I think he’s just heard this line from his daddy lately, since mommy has been flipping out and dealing with contractions, etc. Good times!
Joy wants a baby now!
Joy is willing to wager a visit of the new baby that she will not be pregnant this time next week. I accepted the challenge and now I need your input on how to make sure a baby doesn’t come.
ok for real, Joy has been feeling exeedingly pregnant the last few days and thinks the baby could come this week. Keep your new google readers up to date as we might be blogging about Bertha very soon.
Web Must Haves
I decided to help out a bit on this boring Friday. If you get online 4 times a week, the following list should be a part of your life. I’ve decided to compile of list of things you should be using if you have the internet at your house.
- Gmail – This email program is web based and has so many features I can’t shake a stick at them all. As a geek, trust me, you shouldn’t be using _________ (fill in the blank) as your email. Sign up for gmail right now.
- Google Reader – wow! If you’re not using this you are probably wasting hours online! This is a RSS reader. It goes to each website you tell it to and grabs the latest content. Making so you don’t have to go to each webpage, you just have to hit up your reader and see if anything peeks your interest. For example if you “subscribe” to McBlog’s content Feed, each new post will get delivered to your reader. If you “subscribe” to the McBlog comments, each new comment will get deliver to your reader. You won’t miss another thing. The image on this post is the univeral symbol for RSS feed, if you click it 99% of the time you’ll add the pages feed to your reader.
- Firefox browser – still the best browser out there. 3.1 (coming out soon) will put it as the most advanced browser available. And yes I do plan on putting special content on McBlog for everyone running Firefox 3.1. If you love IE and must have it, upgrade to IE 8 which doesn’t seem that bad as it actually renders McBlog properly with CSS 2 support and has some cool blogging features.
- How about instant messaging you ask… hmm that one’s hard, I do use it everyday but I still haven’t found one network that everyone agrees on. That forces you to get a program that can log into multiple networks to see all your buds. If you follow the above advice, Google Talk with video support is built into Gmail. Coincedentally that is what I’m logged into all day long via iChat.
Well that’s about it for me, what do you use on a daily basis and what does it do for you?
Busy Chase
While I was looking through these photos I realized that we had a pretty busy day on Saturday! Pace and I got lots of stuff done, and Chase did, too. He got to do some finger painting:
And some baking (we made Christmas sugar cookies– Chase loved the dough):
And he got to meet Santa for the first time! We haven’t taken him before because we haven’t really cared, but this year Chase told us he wanted to give a little snowflake ornament to Santa. So we gave in. Chase was really shy when he actually met Santa, though! It was funny. He got a candy cane anyway!
He also got dog poop all over his shoes and pants at the park, but I didn’t take any photos of that… Thanks Pace for cleaning off his shoes so I didn’t hurl!
Mint Truffle Kisses
I would just like to say that Hershey’s Mint Truffle Kisses are amazing. I like them way more than the Candy Cane Kisses, although those are decent as well! Dark chocolate just completely trumps white chocolate in my book. I really don’t know whether these Mint Truffle ones make their appearance only at Christmas time, so I will have to stock up! Can you tell they are my most recent addiction?!
